The union points out that this situation is aggravated by the <strong data-start=\"1088\" data-end=\"1133\">consolidation of the Algeria-Balearic Islands route<\/strong>, a route that has become <strong data-start=\"1167\" data-end=\"1209\">one of the gateways to Europe<\/strong> for those fleeing in boats without means of navigation or security. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1286\" data-end=\"1508\">As <strong>La Voz de Ibiza<\/strong> has already reported on other occasions, the migratory pressure in the islands&#8217; waters has intensified during 2025.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1515\" data-end=\"1566\"><strong data-start=\"1518\" data-end=\"1566\">They demand reinforcements and modernization of the fleet.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1567\" data-end=\"1958\">CCOO calls for an <strong data-start=\"1583\" data-end=\"1628\">increase in material and human resources<\/strong> to ensure coordination from the <strong data-start=\"1670\" data-end=\"1712\">Maritime Rescue Center of Palma<\/strong>, responsible for a &#8220;diamond&#8221; shaped area that covers the entire Balearic archipelago. <strong data-start=\"1798\" data-end=\"1874\">The organization insists on the need to renew the Salvamar units<\/strong>, which together with the Guardamar carry out <strong data-start=\"1911\" data-end=\"1938\">90% of the rescues<\/strong> in Spanish waters.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1960\" data-end=\"2224\"><strong data-start=\"1960\" data-end=\"2108\">&#8220;The lack of means leads to excessive working hours that exceed legal limits, fatigues crews and reduces their response capacity,&#8221;<\/strong> the union denounces<strong data-start=\"1960\" data-end=\"2108\">.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2231\" data-end=\"2287\"><strong data-start=\"2234\" data-end=\"2287\">SAR three times the size of the Spanish territory<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2288\" data-end=\"2595\">The <strong data-start=\"2291\" data-end=\"2344\">Spanish SAR area covers 1.5 million km\u00b2<\/strong>, which is <strong data-start=\"2360\" data-end=\"2407\">three times the country&#8217;s land area<\/strong>. In this area, vessels arriving in the Balearic Islands carry an average of <strong data-start=\"2491\" data-end=\"2506\">20 people<\/strong>, which increases the number of warnings and reduces the rest periods of the teams. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2597\" data-end=\"2820\">Added to this is the <strong data-start=\"2615\" data-end=\"2643\">boom in nautical tourism<\/strong>, which generates a <strong data-start=\"2660\" data-end=\"2711\">high concentration of recreational boats<\/strong> in summer and makes the archipelago the <strong data-start=\"2753\" data-end=\"2795\">area with more rescue operations<\/strong> coordinated from Palma.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2827\" data-end=\"2869\"><strong data-start=\"2830\" data-end=\"2869\">Migration as a structural phenomenon<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2870\" data-end=\"3159\">The union points out that migration by sea <strong data-start=\"2924\" data-end=\"2953\">&#8220;involves serious dangers&#8221;,<\/strong> especially in <strong data-start=\"2972\" data-end=\"3021\">overcrowded and unsafe boats<\/strong>, often controlled by <strong data-start=\"3052\" data-end=\"3062\">mafias<\/strong>.
