And that, undoubtedly, is something positive,&#8221; said Ferrer, who emphasized the need to make economic development compatible with sustainability and the quality of life of residents. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1080\" data-end=\"1453\">The <strong data-start=\"1083\" data-end=\"1109\">XII Ibiza Tourism Forum<\/strong>, held on November 14 in the municipality of Santa Eul\u00e0ria under the slogan <strong data-start=\"1201\" data-end=\"1305\">&#8220;Positive Tourism: real solutions for tourism with impact, coexistence and shared value&#8221;,<\/strong> brings together experts, entrepreneurs, authorities, employers and students to analyze the present and anticipate the future of tourism on the island.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1455\" data-end=\"1850\">The initiative, promoted by <strong data-start=\"1484\" data-end=\"1564\">the Santa Eul\u00e0ria Empresarial association together with the City Council<\/strong>, has been consolidated since 2013 as a space for reflection and debate on marketing models, innovation, sustainability and tourism strategy, in a community where tourism accounts for one sixth of the national GDP and employs nearly three million people.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1857\" data-end=\"1911\">&#8220;We cannot fall into the error of blaming tourism.&#8221;<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1913\" data-end=\"2184\">During her speech, Carmen Ferrer warned against the growing confrontational discourse towards tourism, recalling that <strong data-start=\"2040\" data-end=\"2183\">&#8220;the problem is not the visitor, but our ability to manage a sustainable and balanced model that guarantees well-being for all&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2186\" data-end=\"2558\">&#8220;The economic source of our island is tourism. It is clearly our base, our engine and the source of our opportunities,&#8221; said the mayor, who acknowledged that for decades the success of tourism was measured by the number of visitors, but that today this increase <strong data-start=\"2470\" data-end=\"2558\">&#8220;is no<\/strong> longer <strong data-start=\"2470\" data-end=\"2558\">celebrated in the same way, because it is associated with saturation and loss of quality of life&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"2186\" data-end=\"2558\">\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/actualidad\/marga-prohens-llama-al-turismo-britanico-a-participar-en-su-transformacion-sostenible\/?swcfpc=1\">Marga Prohens calls on British tourism to participate in its sustainable transformation<\/a><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2633\" data-end=\"2970\">Along these lines, the mayor pointed out that <strong data-start=\"2657\" data-end=\"2718\">&#8220;when a destination matures, so do the challenges&#8221;,<\/strong> and detailed some of the most pressing problems facing the island: pressure on the territory, difficulty of access to housing, saturation in high season, scarcity of natural resources -such as water- and mobility problems.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2972\" data-end=\"3212\">Ferrer provided an illustrative figure: <strong data-start=\"3009\" data-end=\"3086\">in the last 25 years, population pressure in Ibiza has grown by 80%<\/strong>, in an island territory limited to <strong data-start=\"3124\" data-end=\"3152\">572 square kilometers<\/strong>, which requires particularly careful planning.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3214\" data-end=\"3425\"><strong>&#8220;The great challenge of Ibiza is to grow in quality, not only in quantity.<\/strong> To grow in stable jobs, in responsible spending, in a redistribution of flows and in a positive impact on the territory,&#8221; he insisted.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"3214\" data-end=\"3425\">\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/actualidad\/los-datos-del-2025-ilusionan-a-ibiza-con-un-turismo-mas-alla-del-verano\/?swcfpc=1\">Data for 2025 gives Ibiza hope for tourism beyond the summer season<\/a><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"3432\" data-end=\"3506\">Actions from Santa Eul\u00e0ria: housing, schools and return of talent<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3508\" data-end=\"3719\">Carmen Ferrer highlighted some of the policies promoted by the <strong data-start=\"3575\" data-end=\"3606\">Santa Eul\u00e0ria City Council<\/strong> to <strong data-start=\"3612\" data-end=\"3695\">correct the imbalances of the destination with responsibility and vision for the future.<\/strong> Among them she mentioned:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"3720\" data-end=\"3968\">\n<li data-start=\"3720\" data-end=\"3751\">\n<p data-start=\"3722\" data-end=\"3751\"><strong data-start=\"3725\" data-end=\"3748\">Water protection<\/strong>,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3752\" data-end=\"3823\">\n<p data-start=\"3754\" data-end=\"3823\"><strong data-start=\"3757\" data-end=\"3820\">Expansion of public schools to support families<\/strong>,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3824\" data-end=\"3893\">\n<p data-start=\"3826\" data-end=\"3893\">The <strong data-start=\"3829\" data-end=\"3890\">construction of affordable housing and rental subsidies<\/strong>,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3894\" data-end=\"3968\">\n<p data-start=\"3896\" data-end=\"3968\">And the <strong data-start=\"3901\" data-end=\"3968\">promotion of the return of young talent and local entrepreneurship.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"4055\" data-end=\"4382\">For this reason, he insisted on the need to continue building a <strong data-start=\"4119\" data-end=\"4177\">competitive, responsible and value-generating tourism.<\/strong> To this end, he called for continuing to fight intrusion in all sectors, control the carrying capacity of the island to avoid saturation, and invest in efficiency and resource recovery.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4384\" data-end=\"4558\">&#8220;Citizens are asking for balance, sustainability, affordable housing, quality of life and preservation of the identity they feel is threatened. And they are right,&#8221; Ferrer said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4560\" data-end=\"4771\">He also called for the protection of Ibiza&#8217;s reputation: <strong data-start=\"4629\" data-end=\"4770\">&#8220;We cannot allow noise to extinguish its essence, nor can we allow confrontation to erase decades of effort, excellence and shared pride&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p
