However, this improvement does not respond to an increase in resources on the part of the Administration, but to an internal adjustment of the sector: <strong data-start=\"952\" data-end=\"1057\">&#8220;Now what we do is not to take the student until we foresee that we can possibly examine him\/her&#8221;,<\/strong> explained the president of the Balearic Association of Driving Schools, <strong data-start=\"1122\" data-end=\"1137\">Joana Ribas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1172\" data-end=\"1513\">This organizational change means that applicants are not trapped in long waits once they have completed their internships. &#8221; <strong data-start=\"1300\" data-end=\"1340\">This way they lose neither money nor time,&#8221;<\/strong> Ribas pointed out in an interview with <em>Radio Ibiza<\/em>. The island still does not have <strong data-start=\"1606\" data-end=\"1628\">permanent examiners<\/strong> and relies on staff transferred from Mallorca. This situation, warns Ribas, causes continuous uncertainties: <strong data-start=\"1744\" data-end=\"1856\">&#8220;Flights are always delayed or cancelled, and if the examiner does not arrive, the exam cannot be done&#8221;.<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1891\" data-end=\"2371\">The president insists that the solution is simple and well-known: <strong data-start=\"1956\" data-end=\"2016\">two examiners permanently stationed in Ibiza<\/strong>. <strong data-start=\"2018\" data-end=\"2093\">&#8220;With two examiners in Ibiza, the island would be totally independent,&#8221;<\/strong> she says. However, he assures that the Administration <strong data-start=\"2146\" data-end=\"2169\">&#8220;turns a deaf ear&#8221;<\/strong> and that the main reason is the <strong data-start=\"2202\" data-end=\"2231\">high cost of housing<\/strong> on the island: <strong data-start=\"2244\" data-end=\"2338\">&#8220;Who comes to Ibiza on a civil servant&#8217;s salary? It is not even enough to pay the rent&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2373\" data-end=\"2711\">Ribas also denounces the progressive <strong data-start=\"2410\" data-end=\"2463\">dismantling of the DGT office in Ibiza<\/strong>. According to him, the head office no longer handles exam-related paperwork: <strong data-start=\"2542\" data-end=\"2637\">&#8220;The Ibiza office does not do a single exam paperwork; it has transferred everything to Palma,&#8221;<\/strong> which adds to the dependency and slowness.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2713\" data-end=\"2980\">Nor will the recently announced incorporation of <strong data-start=\"2760\" data-end=\"2797\">101 new examiners in Spain<\/strong>, of which seven will go to the Balearic Islands, have any real impact on the island. <strong data-start=\"2865\" data-end=\"2938\">&#8220;One is coming, but he&#8217;s going to Menorca. We stay as we are,&#8221; he<\/strong> laments.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2982\" data-end=\"3392\">With a view to the new European regulations that will make it possible to obtain the license from the age of <strong data-start=\"3062\" data-end=\"3073\">17<\/strong>, Ribas considers that the only critical moment will be the first year, when two generations coincide: <strong data-start=\"3175\" data-end=\"3263\">&#8220;In that first year we will have 17-year-olds and 18-year-olds at the same time,&#8221;<\/strong> although he is confident that the increase in the number of teachers resulting from the new vocational training program will make it possible to handle the volume.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3394\" data-end=\"3684\">The president appreciates another novelty: the possibility of <strong data-start=\"3461\" data-end=\"3496\">taking the test with an automatic car<\/strong> and obtaining a manual driving license after additional training. <strong data-start=\"3569\" data-end=\"3642\">&#8220;I think it&#8217;s pretty good.
