This was stated by Juanma Costa, president of the Hotel Association of Formentera, who stressed that the island is increasingly attracting tourists from <strong data-start=\"789\" data-end=\"817\">northern and central Europe<\/strong>, especially from the Nordic countries. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/en\/current-news\/formentera-receives-a-green-flag-for-its-commitment-to-sustainability-and-glass-recycling\/\">Formentera receives a Green Flag for its commitment to sustainability and glass recycling<\/a><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"858\" data-end=\"1224\">In statements to <em>Radio Illa<\/em>, Costa explained that this line of work, promoted by the sector for years, is beginning to consolidate. &#8220;We are fighting to try to capture markets in these countries,&#8221; he said, stressing that this diversification brings stability to the sector and reduces vulnerability to fluctuations in traditional markets. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1226\" data-end=\"1585\">The president of the hotel employers&#8217; association has assessed the season as &#8220;good&#8221;, with figures very similar to those of last year and an increase of <strong data-start=\"1366\" data-end=\"1385\">3% in employment<\/strong> in the overall summer. This new behavior benefits the customer, but forces hotels to adapt, as it promotes <strong data-start=\"1904\" data-end=\"1928\">shorter stays<\/strong> and an increase in the volume of arrivals and departures, which in turn raises operating costs. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2028\" data-end=\"2352\">As for prices, hoteliers start each season with &#8220;expected increases&#8221;, although Costa recognizes that the evolution of the market may force them to adjust rates to remain competitive. Despite this, during this summer there has been a <strong data-start=\"2292\" data-end=\"2310\">slight increase<\/strong> in hotel prices, less than 5%. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2354\" data-end=\"2698\">The visitor profile, he says, continues to value above all <strong data-start=\"2429\" data-end=\"2481\">nature, landscape and the condition of the beaches<\/strong>. In addition, he considers that issues that in previous years generated complaints, such as traffic, have improved thanks to the <strong data-start=\"2606\" data-end=\"2624\">Formentera.eco<\/strong> system, which regulates the entry of vehicles during the busiest months. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2700\" data-end=\"2859\">However, Costa insists on a recurring demand from the sector: the need to expand the <strong data-start=\"2802\" data-end=\"2828\">daytime and nighttime leisure<\/strong> offer, which has been insufficient for years.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2861\" data-end=\"3248\">The hotel president also addressed the perception of certain economic sectors that indicated moments of lower activity during the season. Costa recalled that the hotel sector controls some <strong data-start=\"3064\" data-end=\"3080\">7,000 vacancies<\/strong>, but that there are other types of accommodation &#8211; such as holiday homes or short-term stays &#8211; that also influence the actual influx of visitors. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3250\" data-end=\"3773\">At this point, he highlighted an emerging trend: some owners are beginning to allocate their properties to the <strong data-start=\"3363\" data-end=\"3386\">residential market<\/strong> throughout the year. A movement that responds both to the tightening of controls against the illegal tourist offer and the attractiveness that is gaining the long-term rental.
