The City Council of Sant Antoni de Portmany, through the Department of Equality, has prepared a week of initiatives to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women<\/strong>. The program, which will run from 24 to 28 November<\/strong>, combines institutional events, training proposals and educational activities aimed at young people, adults and school community. In this way, the municipality seeks to strengthen public awareness and advance in the prevention of any form of gender violence. <\/p>\n

Manifesto reading and workshops for young people<\/h2>\n

On Tuesday, November 25 at 12 noon<\/strong> will be held the reading of the institutional manifesto in front of City Hall. With this act, the consistory reaffirms its commitment to equality and the fight against gender violence. Later, at 5 pm<\/g>, the Espai Jove will offer the workshop “To consent is NOT to allow”,<\/g> aimed at young people aged 12 to 18 years<\/g>. In this training space, the monitors of the center will address the importance of consent and also provide tools to manage healthy emotional relationships in adolescence. <\/p>\n

Training for adults at CEPA<\/h2>\n

The program will continue on Wednesday, November 26 at 8 pm<\/strong> with the workshop “The normal and the normalized”,<\/strong> organized by the Adult Education Center (CEPA) of Sant Antoni. In this session, specialists from the Department of Equality of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB)<\/strong> will analyze how certain socially assumed behaviors also contribute to perpetuate inequalities and normalized violence. <\/p>\n

On the other hand, between November 24 and 28,<\/strong> the Municipal Library will set up a table of books with titles focused on the gender perspective. This selection will include essays, narrative and informative works that, in addition to encouraging reflection, will help to promote a broader vision of equality and prevention. <\/p>\n

Short films for high school students<\/h2>\n

Finally, the cycle will close on Friday, November 28 at 10.30 am<\/strong> with the screening of five national and international award-winning short films. The activity, which will take place at the Regio cinema, is aimed at students in the 4th year of ESO of<\/g> all high schools in the municipality. Thanks to the audiovisual language, it is intended to encourage critical awareness and promote egalitarian relations among young people. <\/p>\n

As the Councilor for Equality, Jorge Nacher<\/strong>, points out, “prevention, training and awareness are essential, and activities like these help us move towards a more just and egalitarian society”.<\/em> His words sum up the spirit of a program that aims to strengthen the collective commitment against gender violence. <\/p>\n

The initiatives are funded by the Ministry of Equality<\/strong> through the State Pact against gender violence<\/strong>, in addition to the collaboration of the Balearic Institute for Women<\/strong>, the Consell de Eivissa<\/strong>, the Conselleria de Educaci\u00f3n y Universidades<\/strong> and the Conselleria de Familias y Asuntos Sociales<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
