The drop affected both domestic and international tourism, although with varying intensity. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/en\/current-news\/the-reconversion-of-ses-figueretes-and-es-viver-will-allow-the-expansion-and-renovation-of-hotels-outside-the-urban-planning-process\/?swcfpc=1\">Ibiza gives a free hand to hotels: they can expand and reform without complying with urban planning<\/a><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1053\" data-end=\"1348\">Specifically, <strong data-start=\"1066\" data-end=\"1086\">143,232 travelers<\/strong> were residents of Spain ( <strong data-start=\"1119\" data-end=\"1129\">11.03%<\/strong> of the total), a figure that fell by <strong data-start=\"1163\" data-end=\"1172\">11.9%<\/strong> with respect to 2023. Foreign tourists reached <strong data-start=\"1244\" data-end=\"1261\">1.15 million<\/strong> ( <strong data-start=\"1266\" data-end=\"1276\">88.97%<\/strong> of the total), <strong data-start=\"1292\" data-end=\"1306\">3.6% less<\/strong> than in the same period of the previous year. <\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1350\" data-end=\"1411\"><strong data-start=\"1354\" data-end=\"1411\">94% of overnight stays by foreign travelers<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1413\" data-end=\"1460\">The trend is repeated in overnight stays:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1461\" data-end=\"1623\">\n<li data-start=\"1461\" data-end=\"1544\">\n<p data-start=\"1463\" data-end=\"1544\">Domestic travelers stayed <strong data-start=\"1498\" data-end=\"1516\">419,992 nights<\/strong> ( <strong data-start=\"1521\" data-end=\"1530\">6.03%<\/strong> of the total).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1545\" data-end=\"1623\">\n<p data-start=\"1547\" data-end=\"1623\">Foreigners accounted for <strong data-start=\"1571\" data-end=\"1606\">6.54 million overnight stays<\/strong> ( <strong data-start=\"1611\" data-end=\"1621\">93.97%<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1625\" data-end=\"1848\">This underlines the overwhelming weight of the international market in the month of October, especially in destinations such as Mallorca, Ibiza or Menorca, where the end of the season continues to depend mostly on European tourism.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/en\/current-news\/fewer-people-full-hotels-ibiza-defends-with-data-that-its-strategy-against-intrusiveness-is-already-showing-results\/?swcfpc=1\">Fewer people, full hotels: Ibiza defends with data that its strategy against intrusiveness is already showing results<\/a><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"1850\" data-end=\"1895\"><strong data-start=\"1854\" data-end=\"1895\">The average hotel rate rises 7.8%.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1897\" data-end=\"2184\">The INE report also indicates that the <strong data-start=\"1938\" data-end=\"1976\">average daily room rate<\/strong> in the Balearic Islands reached <strong data-start=\"2001\" data-end=\"2016\">118.4 euros<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2021\" data-end=\"2033\">7.8% more<\/strong> than in October last year. Hotel prices as a whole rose by <strong data-start=\"2111\" data-end=\"2120\">7.32%<\/strong>, maintaining the upward trend in the sector throughout 2023. <\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2186\" data-end=\"2248\"><strong data-start=\"2190\" data-end=\"2248\">66.5% occupancy and 58,864 workers in the sector<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2250\" data-end=\"2457\">In October, hotels in the Balearic Islands reached an <strong data-start=\"2301\" data-end=\"2325\">occupancy rate of 66.51%<\/strong>, practically identical to that of Madrid (66.62%) and only behind the Canary Islands, which led the ranking with an occupancy rate of <strong data-start=\"2434\" data-end=\"2443\">76.2%.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2459\" data-end=\"2653\">The hotel sector employed <strong data-start=\"2500\" data-end=\"2523\">58,864 workers<\/strong> in the Islands, which represents an increase of <strong data-start=\"2557\" data-end=\"2565\">3.7%<\/strong> over last year and confirms the good health of the labor market linked to tourism.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2655\" data-end=\"2706\"><strong data-start=\"2659\" data-end=\"2706\">Balearic Islands, leader in overnight stays in Spain<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2708\" data-end=\"3039\">In the country as a whole, the Balearic Islands was the autonomous community with the highest relative weight in overnight stays in October, accounting for <strong data-start=\"2842\" data-end=\"2871\">20.32% of the national total<\/strong>, followed by the Canary Islands (18.66%) and Catalonia (15.8%).
