Ibiza has become this year 2025 the island with the highest reduction in occupational accidents in the Balearic Islands<\/strong>, recording a drop of 42.19%<\/strong> during the high season months -July, August and September- according to data analyzed Monday by the Tripartite Advisory Committee of the Labor and Social Security Inspection<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The figure represents a much higher drop than the regional average, which stands at 9.6%<\/strong>, and reflects a “significant and unprecedented” improvement compared to previous years.<\/p>\n

A general context of decline, but with Ibiza standing out<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In absolute terms, the Balearic Islands has registered 1,209 fewer accidents<\/strong> than in the same period of 2024. The Councilor for Labor, Public Function and Social Dialogue, Catalina Cabrer<\/strong>, explained that the data consolidate a downward trend initiated after the reactivation of the labor market post COVID, with 28% fewer accidents since 2022<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

However, it was Ibiza<\/strong> that experienced the most pronounced<\/strong> reduction among the four islands.<\/p>\n

The performance of the rest of the archipelago was as follows:<\/p>\n

    Menorca<\/strong>: -12.15%.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Mallorca<\/strong>: -8.36%.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Formentera<\/strong>: slight increase, within the variability expected in small labor markets.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Accidents fall in all sectors<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    In the sectoral analysis of the Balearic Islands – where Ibiza contributes a large part of its productive activity – downward trends can also be seen:<\/p>\n

      Services<\/strong>: -9,97%<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Hospitality<\/strong>: -11.46%.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Industry<\/strong>: -9.85%.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Agriculture<\/strong>: -8.20%.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Construction<\/strong>: -5,95%<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The drop in the hotel and catering industry, which is especially marked, has a great impact on Ibiza, where this sector is one of the main economic engines.<\/p>\n

      Six fatal accidents in the Balearic Islands, three of them in itinere<\/strong><\/h2>\n

      Up to September 30, the Balearic Islands recorded six fatal work-related accidents<\/strong>, the same figure as in 2024. Three of them corresponded to accidents in itinere<\/strong>, occurring while commuting to work. <\/p>\n

      Anti-fraud plan: irregular temporary contracts become permanent contracts<\/strong><\/h2>\n

      The Conselleria also highlighted the progress of the Plan de Choque contra el Fraude en la Contrataci\u00f3n<\/strong>, with direct repercussions in Ibiza:<\/p>\n

        158 temporary contracts<\/strong> converted into permanent contracts<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        1,096 permanent discontinued employees<\/strong> converted to indefinite-term contracts<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        In addition, the regular inspection campaign reviewed 1,852 contracts<\/strong> and regularized another 1,311<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

        More heat inspections and more preventive actions<\/strong><\/h2>\n

        Exposure to high temperatures, especially critical in Ibiza during the summer, led to an increase in controls:<\/p>\n

            Labor complaints also increased slightly to 1,644<\/strong> this year.<\/p>\n

            Ibassal reinforces its presence on construction sites, asbestos and heat waves<\/strong><\/h2>\n

            Ibassal<\/strong> has intensified its inspection activity, especially in key sectors for Ibiza:<\/p>\n

              Construction:<\/strong> 696 visits, 1,245 companies and 5,824 workers supervised.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

              Asbestos:<\/strong> 94 visits and 237 work plans reviewed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

              Heat waves:<\/strong> 156 visits involving 499 companies and 6,441 workers.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
