The Can Guerxo pavilion<\/strong> has reopened its doors after the serious damage caused by the DANA<\/strong>, which left the parquet completely unusable and forced to close the facility for several weeks. To recover the activity as quickly as possible, the City Council of Sant Josep has completely removed the wooden floor and has enabled the pre-existing rubber flooring<\/strong>, located under the parquet, which allows to resume training and competitions with all the safety guarantees. <\/p>\n

In addition, a complete repainting of the courts<\/strong> has been carried out, which has allowed the basketball, badminton, indoor soccer, handball and mini handball<\/strong> surfaces to be re-marked, returning the pavilion to its pre-storm normality.<\/p>\n

Temporary relocation and improvements in other centers<\/strong><\/h2>\n

During the temporary closure of Can Guerxo, the affected equipment was relocated to other municipal spaces. This reorganization has been accompanied by several improvements to optimize its use. At IES Algarb<\/strong> and CEIP Can Raspalls<\/strong>, where a large part of the temporary sports activity took place, basketball and mini-basketball courts have been painted, new baskets have been installed and the lighting in the playgrounds has been reinforced. At the request of the center, the soccer field at Can Raspalls was also repainted. <\/p>\n

Can Guerxo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The CEIP Can Guerxo<\/strong>, which also hosted sports activities, will soon receive painting works and adaptation of the pavement. At Can Burgos<\/strong>, another of the facilities that absorbed part of the program, the sports signage has been revised and updated. <\/p>\n

“I want to thank the patience and involvement of the clubs, other administrations of the island, families and schools during these complicated weeks. We have done everything possible to restore Can Guerxo as soon as possible and we will continue working so that all the sports facilities of the municipality are at the height of what our community deserves,” explained the councilman of Sports, Xicu Ribas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

New actions after the DANA<\/strong><\/h2>\n

These improvements are part of the set of actions promoted by the City Council after the damage caused by the DANA. The study to renew the waterproofing of the Teo Bl\u00e0zquez sports center<\/strong> has already begun, with the aim of definitively solving the leaks that have been dragging for years. <\/p>\n

In addition, the Can Burgos courts<\/strong> are being adapted to incorporate two new mini handball areas, and work is being done with the Sant Josep Rugby Club<\/strong> to install specific goals and adapt the facility to the needs of this sport. Finally, in the Camp Municipal de Kiko Serra<\/strong> a mini soccer field has been installed and several bulbs that were burned out have been renewed. <\/p>\n
