The Ibiza Town Hall has approved this Thursday an update of the Municipal Ordinance of Circulation that introduces significant changes to order the public space, improve mobility and strengthen road safety in the municipality. The new rules, approved at the plenary session held in Can Botino, especially affect the parking of motorcycles and the prolonged stay of vehicles on public roads.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Motorcycles and mopeds, only in marked parking lots.<\/strong><\/h2>\n

One of the most relevant changes is the prohibition of parking motorcycles and mopeds outside specifically designated and marked areas<\/strong>. The modification of article 31 of the ordinance implies that motorcycles will no longer be allowed to park on sidewalks, improvised corners or spaces not designated for this purpose. <\/p>\n

The new regulation seeks to organize the urban space, avoid saturation and ensure safer circulation for both vehicles and pedestrians.<\/p>\n

Removal of vehicles that do not move within 72 hours<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Another of the measures highlighted is the update of article 57, which will allow the City Council to remove vehicles that remain parked in the same spot for more than 72 hours<\/strong>. They will be transferred to the municipal depot. <\/p>\n

This measure aims to:<\/p>\n

    Encourage the rotation of vacancies in areas with high demand.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Avoid the use of public space as a long-stay parking lot.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Reduce the presence of abandoned vehicles in the municipality.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    New penalty system for motorcycles parked in the wrong place<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    The modification of the ordinance also incorporates a specific sanctioning regime<\/strong> for the incorrect parking of motorcycles and mopeds.<\/p>\n

    From now on, parking a motorcycle outside the authorized spaces will be considered an infraction, with the corresponding penalties according to the Municipal regulations.<\/p>\n

    Objective: to recover space and improve mobility<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    The councilman for Mobility and Public Transport, Rub\u00e9n Sousa, defended the update, pointing out that these measures respond to the need to “organize an increasingly saturated public space” and reinforce coexistence in a city with a growing density of vehicles.<\/p>\n

    The modification of the ordinance is part of the municipal strategy to:<\/p>\n
