Among the demands are: <\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1392\" data-end=\"1720\">\n<li data-start=\"1392\" data-end=\"1456\">\n<p data-start=\"1394\" data-end=\"1456\">the <strong data-start=\"1397\" data-end=\"1453\">revision of the Multiannual Demersal Fisheries Plan (MAP)<\/strong>,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1457\" data-end=\"1513\">\n<p data-start=\"1459\" data-end=\"1513\"><strong data-start=\"1459\" data-end=\"1480\">more fishing days<\/strong> for Mediterranean fleets,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1514\" data-end=\"1588\">\n<p data-start=\"1516\" data-end=\"1588\">decisions <strong data-start=\"1527\" data-end=\"1585\">based on updated data specific to the territory<\/strong>,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1589\" data-end=\"1720\">\n<p data-start=\"1591\" data-end=\"1720\">and a revision of the <strong data-start=\"1612\" data-end=\"1641\">landing obligation<\/strong>, which in the Mediterranean &#8220;has not been effective and has increased bureaucracy&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1722\" data-end=\"1962\">The director general insisted that the current community framework &#8220;does not sufficiently incorporate the particularities of the Mediterranean sector&#8221; and called for <strong data-start=\"1874\" data-end=\"1899\">real financial support<\/strong> to modernize the fleet and advance in <strong data-start=\"1941\" data-end=\"1961\">decarbonization<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/en\/current-news\/this-will-be-the-app-that-will-force-recreational-fishermen-in-ibiza-and-formentera-to-declare-all-their-catches\/?swcfpc=1\">This will be the app that will force recreational fishermen in Ibiza and Formentera to declare all their catches.<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"1964\" data-end=\"2037\"><strong data-start=\"1967\" data-end=\"2037\">Grau calls for regionalized management and recognizes improvements in the Balearic Islands<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2039\" data-end=\"2431\">The general director of Fisheries, <strong data-start=\"2069\" data-end=\"2090\">Antoni Maria Grau<\/strong>, participated in a round table with the general secretary of State Fisheries, Isabel Artime, and representatives from other regions. Grau admitted that the Demersal Plan has contributed to the <strong data-start=\"2266\" data-end=\"2294\">recovery of resources<\/strong>, but stressed that &#8220;now is the time to rethink management to ensure a sustainable and viable future for our fisheries&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2433\" data-end=\"2763\">As an example, he pointed out that in the Balearic Islands the reduction of fishing effort has favored a <strong data-start=\"2523\" data-end=\"2563\">remarkable recovery of catches<\/strong> and defended the need for <strong data-start=\"2591\" data-end=\"2616\">regionalized plans<\/strong>, such as the one demanded by the Government for the GSA5 -the sub-area that includes the Balearic Islands- with <strong data-start=\"2698\" data-end=\"2762\">limitations adapted to the particularities of the territory<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2765\" data-end=\"3186\">Grau also highlighted the weight of the Balearic Islands in <strong data-start=\"2809\" data-end=\"2832\">marine conservation<\/strong>, with more than <strong data-start=\"2846\" data-end=\"2871\">40% of the sea protected<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2873\" data-end=\"2913\">67,000 hectares of marine reserves<\/strong> and areas of <strong data-start=\"2925\" data-end=\"2956\">high protection and co-management<\/strong>. It also defended the modernization of the market system, reinforcing <strong data-start=\"3527\" data-end=\"3544\">transparency<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"3550\" data-end=\"3570\">fair competition<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"3573\" data-end=\"3638\"><strong data-start=\"3576\" data-end=\"3638\">A debate that coexists with tensions in recreational fisheries<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3640\" data-end=\"4174\">Although the day in Barcelona focused on <strong data-start=\"3687\" data-end=\"3708\">professional fishing<\/strong>, this debate comes at a time when the Pitiusas also live a parallel discussion on the <strong data-start=\"3808\" data-end=\"3852\">management of recreational fishing effort<\/strong>.
