Linear television consumption continues its downward trend in Spain. During November 2025, each viewer watched an average of 285 minutes per day<\/strong> (equivalent to 4 hours and 45 minutes)<\/strong>, down 3% from the same month of the previous year. <\/p>\n

This is reflected in the latest report prepared by Barlovento Comunicaci\u00f3n<\/strong> based on data from Kantar<\/strong>, which analyzes the behavior of the audience in traditional television and other uses of the TV set.<\/p>\n

In the case of the Balearic Islands<\/strong>, viewing time is even lower: viewers on the islands dedicated 146 minutes a day<\/strong> to conventional television, just 2 hours and 26 minutes<\/strong>, placing it among the autonomous regions with the least recourse to this type of consumption.<\/p>\n

The communities that watch the least television: Balearic Islands, Navarre, Catalonia and Madrid<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The analysis by territory shows notable differences in the time that citizens dedicate to traditional television. At the bottom of the ranking are: <\/p>\n

    Balearic Islands: 146 minutes per day<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    These figures contrast with the regions where television continues to occupy a central place in the daily routine. Asturias leads the country<\/strong> with 203 minutes per viewer, followed by Galicia (201 minutes)<\/strong>, Castilla y Le\u00f3n (200 minutes)<\/strong> and Andaluc\u00eda (192 minutes).<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The report also highlights that 7.45 million people watch TV every day for at least one minute<\/strong>, while 3.86 million<\/strong> have not watched it at any time during the month, a group referred to as telephobics<\/em>.<\/p>\n

    Television consumption continues to be strongly influenced by sociodemographic factors. According to Barlovento Comunicaci\u00f3n: <\/p>\n

      Women<\/strong> watch more television than men (178 minutes per day versus 168).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      People over 74 years of age<\/strong> are the group that spends the most time in front of the television, with 346 minutes a day<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      They are followed by those between 65 and 74 years old (329 minutes)<\/strong> and the 45 to 64 years old<\/strong> segment (199 minutes).<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Overall, traditional television reached 43.2 million unique viewers<\/strong> in November, equivalent to 91.8% of the population<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      Total TV usage is also reduced<\/strong><\/h2>\n

      An analysis of overall TV usage (combining both traditional TV and hybrid consumption) shows an overall decline compared to the previous year. In November 2025, the TV set recorded an average of 223 minutes of use per person per day<\/strong>, a drop of six minutes compared to November 2024: this reduction confirms the trend towards a more fragmented and distributed consumption between different platforms and devices. <\/p>\n

      If the calculation focuses exclusively on those who do use the TV set daily, the time spent per viewer<\/strong> amounts to 338 minutes<\/strong>, just five minutes less than in the same period of the previous year. The slight variation shows that, although linear television continues to yield space to on-demand content, the television continues to occupy a relevant place in the audiovisual routine of Spanish households. <\/p>\n

      Overall, the data reveal a scenario in transformation: traditional television is losing minutes, but the device remains an entertainment center that combines classic broadcasts with streaming, video games and other digital uses: the change is not in abandoning the TV, but in diversifying the way of consuming content.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
