Between July and September, the island&#8217;s courts <strong data-start=\"773\" data-end=\"808\">received 6,370 new cases<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"811\" data-end=\"847\">resolved 7,004 procedures<\/strong>, which placed the volume of <strong data-start=\"884\" data-end=\"932\">pending<\/strong> cases <strong data-start=\"884\" data-end=\"932\">at the end of the quarter at 13,563<\/strong>, that is, <strong data-start=\"944\" data-end=\"957\">261 less<\/strong> than at the beginning of the period. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/en\/current-news\/justice-finally-reactivates-the-second-phase-of-the-new-court-building-in-ibiza\/?swcfpc=1\">Justice finally reactivates the second phase of the new court building in Ibiza<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"986\" data-end=\"1503\">During the quarter, the number of cases resolved exceeded the number of new cases filed. However, the difference between resolved and filed cases<strong data-start=\"1152\" data-end=\"1188\">(634 more resolved than filed<\/strong>) does not fully translate into a reduction of the pendency, which was <strong data-start=\"1261\" data-end=\"1276\">261 cases<\/strong>, due to the <strong data-start=\"1291\" data-end=\"1335\">usual statistical adjustments of the CGPJ<\/strong>, which include reassignments, accumulations, inhibitions, changes of procedural phase and other internal movements that do not count as resolutions or new filings. <\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1505\" data-end=\"1551\">Breakdown of judicial activity in Ibiza<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1553\" data-end=\"1787\">Of the total of <strong data-start=\"1566\" data-end=\"1594\">6,370 cases filed<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"1599\" data-end=\"1621\">criminal jurisdiction<\/strong> accounted for <strong data-start=\"1632\" data-end=\"1650\">most<\/strong>, followed by the <strong data-start=\"1667\" data-end=\"1689\">civil jurisdiction<\/strong>, which also maintains a high volume of incoming proceedings in the island&#8217;s courts.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1789\" data-end=\"2013\">As for the <strong data-start=\"1805\" data-end=\"1832\">7,004 cases resolved<\/strong>, the largest number of cases was also handled by the <strong data-start=\"1897\" data-end=\"1906\">criminal<\/strong> courts, especially the examining courts, followed by the civil courts of first instance.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2015\" data-end=\"2048\">Regional context<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2050\" data-end=\"2236\">In the <strong data-start=\"2068\" data-end=\"2080\">Balearic Islands<\/strong> as a whole, the judicial bodies registered <strong data-start=\"2140\" data-end=\"2175\">43,453 new cases<\/strong> in the third quarter, <strong data-start=\"2180\" data-end=\"2194\">9.5% less<\/strong> than in the same period of the previous year.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2238\" data-end=\"2590\">During that same quarter, the courts of the archipelago <strong data-start=\"2297\" data-end=\"2327\">resolved 43,108 matters<\/strong>, while the <strong data-start=\"2345\" data-end=\"2364\">total pendency<\/strong> stood at the close of the period at <strong data-start=\"2399\" data-end=\"2425\">117,754 proceedings<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2430\" data-end=\"2442\">8.8% more<\/strong> than a year earlier, according to the statistical report on the <em data-start=\"2499\" data-end=\"2567\">Situation of the judicial bodies in the third quarter of
