The president of the United States, Donald Trump<\/strong>, has assured this Saturday that the president of Venezuela, Nicol\u00e1s Maduro<\/strong>, “has been captured and transferred out of Venezuela<\/strong>” after a large-scale military operation<\/strong> carried out by the United States. The announcement was made by Trump himself through his social network, Truth Social<\/strong>, where he also confirms that the US has executed attacks inside Venezuelan territory<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

The U.S. president’s message comes after explosions<\/strong> were reported in civilian and military areas<\/strong> of Caracas<\/strong> and the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira<\/strong> during the early morning hours, as denounced by the Venezuelan government.<\/p>\n

Trump announces press conference<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In his publication, Trump states that the operation has been developed with the participation of U.S. law enforcement agencies<\/strong> and has announced a press conference in Mar-a-Lago (Florida)<\/strong> at 11.00 local time<\/strong> (17.00 Spanish peninsular time), where he promises to provide more details.<\/p>\n

According to his version, Maduro and his wife were reportedly detained and taken out of the country by plane<\/strong>. For the moment, there is no independent confirmation<\/strong> on the whereabouts of the Venezuelan president. <\/p>\n

The US gave the green light for the attacks days ago<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Government sources quoted by the CBS<\/strong> network claim that Trump authorized the attacks several days ago<\/strong>. According to this version, senior U.S. military commanders even considered an offensive at Christmas<\/strong>, but decided to postpone it<\/strong> in order to prioritize operations against the Islamic State in Nigeria<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Venezuela denounces a “very serious military aggression”.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Venezuelan government has described the attacks of early this morning as a “very serious military aggression”<\/strong> by the United States. In response, it has decreed a state of national emergency<\/strong> and called on the population to defend the country<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Petro speaks of “bombed” Caracas<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Colombian President Gustavo Petro<\/strong> has stated that Caracas is being bombed<\/strong> and has requested urgent meetings<\/strong> of the UN Security Council<\/strong> and the Organization of American States (OAS)<\/strong> due to the seriousness of the situation.<\/p>\n

    Airlines keep flights suspended<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    In parallel, the airlines operating between Spain and Venezuela<\/strong> have decided to maintain the suspension of flights at least until January 31, 2026<\/strong>, following the recommendations of the State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA)<\/strong>.
