IBICINE, the Ibiza Film Festival<\/strong>, kicks off its ninth edition<\/strong> this Wednesday, January 7th<\/strong> at the Can Ventosa Cultural Center<\/strong> with the short films session Identities in focus<\/em><\/strong>which opens the Official Short Film Section<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The session brings together seven works<\/strong> that address issues such as gender<\/strong>, dissidence<\/strong>, desire<\/strong>, adolescence<\/strong>, family<\/strong>, violence<\/strong> and the visibility of identities usually relegated from<\/strong> the audiovisual narrative, from contemporary perspectives<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

An opening session with its own identity<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Conceived as a thematic proposal, Identidades a enfoque<\/em> articulates a program that focuses on emotional, social and generational conflicts<\/strong>, becoming a letter of introduction to<\/strong> the artistic approach of this ninth edition of the festival.<\/p>\n

Seven short films in the Official Selection<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The titles that make up the program are Sex at 70<\/em><\/strong>by Vanesa Romero<\/strong>; Quitting Smoking<\/em><\/strong>by Javier Rubio<\/strong>; Pipiolos<\/em><\/strong>by Daniel S\u00e1nchez Ar\u00e9valo<\/strong>; Angie<\/em><\/strong>by Josep Var\u00f3<\/strong>; C\u00f3lera<\/em><\/strong>by Jos\u00e9 Luis L\u00e1zaro<\/strong>; Run, Adela<\/em><\/strong>by Alba Pino<\/strong>; and YOU DON’T.<\/em><\/strong>by Marta Albert Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong>, who will be present at the screening to participate in the subsequent cineforum<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The session will also include the participation of renowned performers<\/strong> such as Mamen Garc\u00eda<\/strong>, Lara Martorell<\/strong> and Luis Bermejo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Three short films in the running for the Goya Awards 2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Three of the projected works –Cholera<\/em><\/strong>, Sex at 70<\/em><\/strong> y Pipiolos<\/em><\/strong>– are currently in the running for the 2026 Goya Awards<\/strong>, according to the festival’s organizers<\/strong>, reinforcing the outstanding nature<\/strong> of this inaugural session.<\/p>\n

After the screening, the audience will be able to participate in a cineforum<\/strong>, conceived as an open dialogue space<\/strong>, with the participation of Marta Albert Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong>, director of YOUR NO.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Institutional support and collaborators<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The organization has thanked the support of the institutions, sponsors and collaborators<\/strong> that make this ninth edition of the festival<\/strong> possible, especially Ibiza Travel<\/strong>, the Consell d’Eivissa<\/strong>, Eivissacultural.es<\/strong> and Adlib Ibiza<\/strong>; the Ajuntament d’Eivissa<\/strong> and Can Ventosa<\/strong>, headquarters of the Official Short Film Section SOC9<\/strong>; as well as the town councils of Santa Eul\u00e0ria des Riu and Sant Antoni de Portmany<\/strong>, where the Official Feature Film Section<\/strong> will be held.<\/p>\n

The festival has also highlighted the collaboration of Grupo Mambo<\/strong>, which will host the filmmakers during the screenings to be held between January and April<\/strong> at Hostal La Torre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Official Short Film Section<\/strong> will continue once a week<\/strong> at Can Ventosa, Eivissa<\/strong>. All the information about programming and tickets is available at www.ibicine.com<\/a><\/strong> and @festivalcineibiza<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

In addition, registration is open until January 15<\/strong> for IBICINE ScriptLab<\/strong>, the festival’s script lab<\/strong> for professionals in the audiovisual sector.<\/p>\n
