{"id":148631,"date":"2026-01-07T16:17:52","date_gmt":"2026-01-07T15:17:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/sin-categorizar\/fewer-people-in-ibiza-more-in-the-rest-of-the-balearic-islands\/"},"modified":"2026-01-07T16:17:52","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T15:17:52","slug":"fewer-people-in-ibiza-more-in-the-rest-of-the-balearic-islands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/en\/current-news\/fewer-people-in-ibiza-more-in-the-rest-of-the-balearic-islands\/","title":{"rendered":"Fewer people in Ibiza, more in the rest of the Balearic Islands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"312\" data-end=\"735\">The Balearic archipelago recorded a <strong data-start=\"360\" data-end=\"417\">slight drop in human pressure in October 2025<\/strong> compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the latest data published by the <strong data-start=\"500\" data-end=\"545\">Balearic Institute of Statistics (Ibestat)<\/strong>. <strong data-start=\"547\" data-end=\"642\">The maximum human pressure index (HPI) stood on October 3 at 1,760,555 people<\/strong>, representing a <strong data-start=\"666\" data-end=\"685\">drop of 0.2%<\/strong> compared to the record figure of the previous year.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"312\" data-end=\"735\">\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/en\/current-news\/ibiza-among-the-ten-municipalities-with-the-highest-population-growth-in-spain\/\">Ibiza, among the ten municipalities with the highest population growth in Spain<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"737\" data-end=\"1111\">However, <strong data-start=\"750\" data-end=\"822\">it is the island of Ibiza that fully explains this overall decline<\/strong>, as it is the only one to have registered a significant drop. <strong data-start=\"883\" data-end=\"949\">The monthly average of the HPI in Ibiza stood at 215,468 people<\/strong>, a figure that represents a <strong data-start=\"977\" data-end=\"1011\">year-on-year decrease of 7.89%<\/strong>. In contrast, <strong data-start=\"1027\" data-end=\"1110\">Mallorca, Menorca and Formentera saw their human pressure increase in October<\/strong>. Something that <a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/en\/current-news\/ibiza-the-only-island-where-human-pressure-drops-in-september-despite-the-new-balearic-record\/\">had already occurred in December<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1118\" data-end=\"1181\"><strong data-start=\"1122\" data-end=\"1181\">Ibiza, the only island to record a significant decrease<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1183\" data-end=\"1560\">According to the analysis broken down by islands, the behavior was uneven. <strong data-start=\"1255\" data-end=\"1267\">Mallorca<\/strong> reached a <strong data-start=\"1280\" data-end=\"1319\">monthly average of 1,276,307 people<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1324\" data-end=\"1338\">0.51% more<\/strong> than in October 2024. In <strong data-start=\"1366\" data-end=\"1377\">Menorca<\/strong>, the average figure was <strong data-start=\"1401\" data-end=\"1421\">139,815 people<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1426\" data-end=\"1445\">4.20% higher<\/strong>. For its part, <strong data-start=\"1461\" data-end=\"1475\">Formentera<\/strong> reached an average of <strong data-start=\"1499\" data-end=\"1518\">20,004 people<\/strong>, an <strong data-start=\"1537\" data-end=\"1559\">increase of 8.53 %<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1562\" data-end=\"1877\">On the other hand, <strong data-start=\"1573\" data-end=\"1628\">Ibiza was the only island with a notable decrease<\/strong>. The day with the highest occupancy was <strong data-start=\"1664\" data-end=\"1680\">October 2,<\/strong> with <strong data-start=\"1686\" data-end=\"1706\">248,590 people<\/strong>, while the day with the lowest pressure was <strong data-start=\"1753\" data-end=\"1770\">October 31<\/strong>, with <strong data-start=\"1776\" data-end=\"1787\">174,104<\/strong>. This evolution contrasts with the rest of the archipelago, where the figures were upward.  <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1879\" data-end=\"2146\"><strong data-start=\"1879\" data-end=\"1965\">This behavior points to a possible change of trend in tourism in Ibiza<\/strong>, which could be due to factors such as the regulation of tourist accommodation, the increase in the price of supply or the lower number of air connections at the end of the high season.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2153\" data-end=\"2220\"><strong data-start=\"2157\" data-end=\"2220\">Slight decline after a down summer<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2222\" data-end=\"2538\">The minimum HPI registered in the Balearic Islands during the month was on <strong data-start=\"2281\" data-end=\"2298\">October 31,<\/strong> with <strong data-start=\"2304\" data-end=\"2326\">1,417,111 people<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2331\" data-end=\"2346\">0.4% less<\/strong> than on the same date in 2024. <strong data-start=\"2378\" data-end=\"2454\">The monthly average for the archipelago as a whole was 1,651,593 persons<\/strong>, lower than that of October of the previous year, which reached <strong data-start=\"2515\" data-end=\"2537\">1,656,399 persons<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2540\" data-end=\"2797\">October&#8217;s decline adds to the trend already observed during <strong data-start=\"2607\" data-end=\"2630\">the summer months<\/strong>, when the number of people present on the islands was also lower than in the previous year. <strong data-start=\"2723\"
