The general director of Mobility, <strong data-start=\"481\" data-end=\"501\">Lorena del Valle<\/strong>, has assured that <strong data-start=\"520\" data-end=\"575\">&#8220;10,000 new VTC licenses are an outrage&#8221;<\/strong> and has stressed that the Executive <strong data-start=\"608\" data-end=\"650\">does not intend to approve all of them<\/strong>, but only &#8220;those that can absorb the territory&#8221;. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/en\/current-news\/ibiza-at-the-center-of-the-battle-cab-warns-that-approving-6500-vtc-would-be-a-hecatomb-denounces-mafia-and-points-to-uber\/?swcfpc=1\">Ibiza, at the center of the battle: cab warns that approving 6,500 VTC would be &#8220;a hecatomb&#8221;, denounces &#8220;mafia&#8221; and points to Uber<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"743\" data-end=\"1065\">The statements come after the <strong data-start=\"797\" data-end=\"812\">Taxis-Pimem<\/strong> group claimed to the Govern to reject the concession of these almost 10,000 authorizations, considering that their entry into service would mean &#8220;a hecatomb&#8221; and the &#8220;absolute bankruptcy&#8221; of the transport model in the Islands.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1072\" data-end=\"1129\">6,500 applications in Ibiza: the epicenter of the problem<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1131\" data-end=\"1528\">As explained by Del Valle, the recent ruling of the <strong data-start=\"1187\" data-end=\"1249\">High Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands (TSJIB)<\/strong> obliges the Govern to <strong data-start=\"1269\" data-end=\"1297\">process 600<\/strong> VTC <strong data-start=\"1269\" data-end=\"1297\">applications<\/strong> submitted in 2022 that were denied, but its logic also affects <strong data-start=\"1379\" data-end=\"1407\">more than 10,000 requests<\/strong> -most of them from 2023- that were suspended by the moratorium approved in 2024.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1530\" data-end=\"1961\">Of that block, <strong data-start=\"1545\" data-end=\"1606\">6,500 applications correspond to Ibiza and 3,500 to Mallorca<\/strong>. As already reported by <strong>La Voz de Ibiza<\/strong>, the island has become one of the main centers of interest for companies linked to platforms such as Uber, which have found a particularly attractive market here. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1963\" data-end=\"2293\">In total, between cabs and VTC <strong data-start=\"1991\" data-end=\"2046\">currently operate about 3,000 licenses in the Balearic Islands<\/strong>; giving the green light to the 10,000 pending applications <strong data-start=\"2098\" data-end=\"2113\">would triple<\/strong> the number of vehicles with authorization. &#8220;It is clear that 10,000 licenses will not mean an improvement in mobility,&#8221; Del Valle admitted. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/en\/current-news\/cab-drivers-outburst-against-the-governs-new-draft-they-denounce-legal-uncertainty-and-unfair-competition\/?swcfpc=1\">Cab drivers outburst against the Govern&#8217;s new draft: they denounce &#8220;legal uncertainty&#8221; and unfair competition<\/a><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"2300\" data-end=\"2380\">&#8220;10,000 licenses will not be approved&#8221;: case-by-case processing and new regulation<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2382\" data-end=\"2882\">The general director has clarified that the obligation imposed by the TSJIB is to <strong data-start=\"2458\" data-end=\"2501\">process the applications, not to approve them<\/strong>. This implies reopening the files and examining each case &#8220;<strong data-start=\"2561\" data-end=\"2574\">one by one<\/strong>&#8220;, verifying whether the requirements are met and giving solid reasons for both concessions and refusals, in accordance with European case law that has overturned the fixed ratios between cabs and VTCs when they are not justified by reasons of general interest. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2884\" data-end=\"3218\">In statements reported by IB3, Del Valle insisted that the Government is working to ensure that the Balearic Islands have <strong data-start=\"2992\" data-end=\"3059\">&#8220;the licenses it needs and that the territory can absorb&#8221;<\/strong> and stressed that <strong data-start=\"3079\" data-end=\"3127\">&#8220;10,000 new licenses [&#8230;] will not be approved&#8221;,<\/strong> in reference to the complete package of applications <strong data-start=\"3079\" data-end=\"3127\">.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3220\" data-end=\"3676\">The Executive relies on the <strong data-start=\"3248\" data-end=\"3287\">law passed unanimously in 2024<\/strong>, which suspended the granting of new licenses until a <strong data-start=\"3357\" data-end=\"3396\">specific cab and VTC regulation<\/strong> is available.
