Sant Josep de sa Talaia<\/strong> will be this Sunday the center of popular running in Ibiza<\/strong> with the celebration of the 5K Ibiza-Platja d’en Bossa<\/strong>, a race that reaches its sixth edition<\/strong> and has again sold out bibs weeks<\/strong> before its dispute.<\/p>\n

The race will be held from 9.00 am<\/strong> in Platja d’en Bossa, with a coastal route of two laps<\/strong>, and will bring together hundreds of runners of different ages and levels<\/strong>, consolidating itself as one of the most attractive events in the local sports calendar.<\/p>\n

Official presentation of the race<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The race was presented this morning with the participation of Xicu Ribas<\/strong>, Councillor for Sports of the City Council of Sant Josep; Javier Bonet<\/strong>, Director of Sports of the Consell d’Eivissa, and Dani Becerra<\/strong>, organizer of the event.<\/p>\n

During the ceremony, Xicu Ribas highlighted the good health of popular athletics on the island<\/strong> and the consolidation of the event within the local sports calendar.<\/p>\n

An open and consolidated event in the sports calendar<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Councilor for Sports of the City Council of Sant Josep stressed the continued growth of the race and the public response to such initiatives: “That this race continues to grow edition after edition shows that citizens respond when open and well-organized sporting events are proposed. The Platja d’en Bossa 5K has become a very attractive event in the local calendar,” he<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n

An accessible distance for beginners<\/strong><\/h2>\n

For his part, Javier Bonet emphasized the accessible<\/strong> nature of the distance<\/strong> and its value as a gateway to popular running. “We are talking about a race designed for everyone, especially for those who want to get started. It’s not just about competing, but about taking the first step towards an active and healthy lifestyle,”<\/strong> said the island’s Sports Director.<\/p>\n

Female participation reaches 47 %.<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The organizer of the race, Dani Becerra, highlighted the evolution of female participation<\/strong>, which this year reached 47% of the total number of registered participants<\/strong>. “We are very close to parity and that is a clear reflection that more and more women feel comfortable and motivated to participate in this type of popular races,”<\/strong> he explained.<\/p>\n

Start, finish line and bib pick-up<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The start of<\/strong> the race will be from Red Gamba Street<\/strong>, while the finish line<\/strong> will be located next to the Nassau Beach parking lot<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The collection of race bibs and T-shirts<\/strong> will be held at La Sirena Shopping Center in Platja d’en Bossa<\/strong> on Friday 9 and Saturday 10<\/strong>, from 10.00 to 13.00 hours<\/strong> and from 17.00 to 20.00 hours<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Presentation of trophies after the race<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Once the race is over, the City Council of Sant Josep<\/strong> and the Consell d’Eivissa<\/strong> will proceed to the delivery of a total of 62 trophies<\/strong>, corresponding to the different official categories<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Favorites to win in the men’s and women’s categories<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In the women’s category<\/strong>, the Valencian Noelia Juan<\/strong>, Spanish sprint triathlon<\/strong> champion in 2022 and 2023<\/strong>, stands out as the main contender for the victory. Also emerging to occupy a prominent place on the podium is Nuria Tauler<\/strong>, along with other runners such as Gloria Tejado, Noelia Perez and Alicia Gavone<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

In the men’s category<\/strong>, the great candidate is the young Valencian Ciro Mart\u00edn<\/strong>, who is in excellent form after winning the San Silvestre de Valencia<\/strong> and becoming the U23 Spanish cross country champion.<\/strong> Also, the eyes will be on Adri\u00e1n Guirado<\/strong>, three-time champion of the 5K; on Mauro Garc\u00eda-Vall\u00e9s<\/strong>, who is going through a great moment and aims to improve his record over 5,000 meters<\/strong>; and on Josep Torres<\/strong>, who has returned to competition with strength after a long period of inactivity. <\/p>\n

Traffic restrictions for safety reasons<\/strong><\/h2>\n

For security reasons, traffic cuts<\/strong> will be applied on Sunday in Platja d’en Bossa<\/strong>. Between 9.00 and 9.45 a.m.<\/strong> the stretch between the Palladium Hotel<\/strong> and La Sirena Shopping Center<\/strong> will be closed, while Gamba Roja Street<\/strong> will be closed from 8.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m.<\/strong> <\/p>\n
