The president of the Consell de Formentera<\/a><\/strong>, Lloren\u00e7 C\u00f3rdoba<\/strong>, reacted calmly<\/strong> on Tuesday to the complaint filed by the Ethics and Good Government Commission<\/strong> for an alleged crime of misappropriation of public funds<\/strong>. Cordoba, who is also a deputy, has accused the Commission of acting in bad faith<\/strong>, arguing that this complaint is part of a deliberate attempt to displace him from office. The complaint filed with the Public Prosecutor’s Office<\/strong> alleges that Cordoba had used a lawyer of the Consell<\/strong> for the preparation of allegations<\/a> presented on October 17,<\/strong> a use that, according to the Commission, was made for personal purposes<\/strong>. The document in question requested the recusal of two of the five members<\/strong> of the Commission, as well as the suspension of the process<\/strong> until a new report was issued. Cordoba denounces leaks and defends its performance<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In his statements, C\u00f3rdoba has expressed his annoyance at the leaking of the report<\/strong>, which, according to him, should have been presented in plenary before being disclosed. “It is one more move by those who seek to expel me,” he said, lamenting that these attacks no longer come only from political figures<\/strong>, but also from other actors who are not part of the institutional sphere. C\u00f3rdoba insisted that his request to halt the drafting of the report<\/strong> was not heeded, and instead, the Commission opted to leak the document<\/strong> to the media. The complaint was advanced by R\u00e0dio Illa Formentera<\/em>, which reported that the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office<\/strong> has already received the evidence, including metadata<\/strong> from the document that would prove its misuse. The Ethics Commission argues that Cordoba’s actions are a violation of the Code of Ethics<\/strong>, as the Consell’s legal services should not be used for personal purposes.
