The president of the Consell de Formentera<\/strong><\/a>, Lloren\u00e7 C\u00f3rdoba<\/strong><\/a>clarified Tuesday that he has no intention of preventing the holding of the institutional plenary session scheduled for Thursday, in response to criticism from opposition political groups. C\u00f3rdoba pointed out that although the session will not be an ordinary one, it will be held in an extraordinary and urgent format, thus ensuring the continuity of the Consell’s work.<\/p>\n

Change of format to avoid legal conflicts<\/strong><\/h2>\n

C\u00f3rdoba has explained that the conflict arose when the agenda proposed by the secretary included the presentation of the report of the Ethics Committee, despite the fact that the allegations presented by his team had not yet been resolved. “My lawyer warned me that, if I signed that agenda without the allegations being answered, it would be like giving up my right of defense,” the president commented. The allegations include a request for the recusal of two members of the Ethics Committee and a request that the report not be made public until the allegations are clarified. “My only interest is that the report comes out well and that the impartiality of the process is guaranteed. I do not understand the urgency of showing a report that is not binding without ensuring that the investigations are done correctly,” Cordoba stressed. <\/p>\n

Extraordinary plenary session: the solution to the differences<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The president has explained that, when proposing to remove the conflictive point from the agenda, the secretary refused to process it, which prevented the call in ordinary format. However, Cordoba stressed that the solution found was to hold an extraordinary and urgent plenary, ensuring that the same contents and the same scheduled time will be maintained. “If my intention was to block the plenary, I would not have called it,” Cordoba maintained, rejecting accusations of “cacicada”<\/strong>. In addition, he has assured that he has requested on several occasions the signing of the agenda, but did not receive a response in time. <\/p>\n

Criticism of Ethics Committee leaks<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In his intervention, Cordoba has also charged against the Ethics Code Commission<\/strong> for having leaked the complaint against him to the press<\/a>. “This shows the ethics with which they handle themselves. They have created a scenario that only seeks to justify a motion of censure against me,” he lamented. C\u00f3rdoba also questioned the legitimacy of the Committee to resolve internal challenges, stating that these are usually handled by higher bodies. “The report is being used as a political tool to overthrow me. I already warned weeks ago: they have no grounds for a motion of censure, so they fabricate a conflict where there is none,” C\u00f3rdoba added. <\/p>\n

Peace of mind in the event of a complaint<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Regarding the complaint filed by the Commission, C\u00f3rdoba stated that he will remain attentive to the development of events, but assured that he is calm: “I have done nothing wrong, and when I have more information, I will evaluate the steps to follow”.
