The Ibiza Town Hall<\/strong> <\/a>has inaugurated the project El silenci del record<\/em>, a museum initiative that seeks to revalue the Old Cemetery<\/strong> as a space of memory and heritage. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, October 30 at 5:00 pm, with the participation of local authorities, relatives of the honorees and members of the Historical Archive of Ibiza and Formentera (AHEiF)<\/strong>, who collaborated in the collection of fundamental documentation for the development of the project. In this first phase, 61 commemorative plaques have been installed to commemorate relevant characters for the island, such as Isidor Macabich, Mari\u00e0 Villang\u00f3mez and Narc\u00eds Puget Vi\u00f1as, among others. Historical materials recovered from excavations carried out in collaboration with the Balearic Government have also been exhibited, as well as documents provided by the Image and Sound Archive of Ibiza and Formentera (AISME).<\/strong> During the inauguration, Manuel Jim\u00e9nez<\/strong>, Councilor of Cemeteries, stressed the importance of the project, noting that it represents only the beginning of a process that will continue to expand. Jim\u00e9nez expressed his gratitude to the families who provided information and acknowledged the efforts of the archive team to contribute to the preservation of local history. The mayor of Ibiza, Rafa Triguero<\/strong>, emphasized in his speech that this tribute is more than a commemoration. According to the mayor, remembering those who left their mark on the island is also a commitment to the future. Triguero pointed out that “each name represents a significant chapter in the history of Ibiza” and added that this project reinforces the cultural identity and heritage of the island, recognizing those who helped build today’s society. In concluding his speech, the mayor expressed the importance of continuing to preserve the cultural legacy and invited the community to get involved in the transmission of these values to future generations.<\/p>\n

Schedules<\/h2>\n

The day of October 31 will include a guided tour, set in the time of the creation of the Old Cemetery, which will allow attendees to explore the history of the site in an immersive way starting at 6:00 pm. The Old Cemetery will remain open to the public with seasonally adjusted hours. From April to September it will be available from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, while between October and March the hours will be from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
