This adjustment, approved in the municipal plenary, seeks to adapt the rates according to the waste generation capacity of each sector and reduce the impact on local commerce and small establishments. <strong>Jordi Griv\u00e9<\/strong>, Councilor for Cleaning and Environment, explained that this increase responds to <strong>Law 7\/2022<\/strong> on Waste and Contaminated Soils, which imposes on municipalities the obligation to cover the cost of waste collection services in a non-deficit manner. With this change, dwellings of up to <strong>150 square meters<\/strong> will see their rate rise from <strong>125 euros per year (34 cents per day) to 190 euros (52 cents per day)<\/strong>, while large generators, such as luxury hotels and tourist rentals, will assume a proportionally larger increase. To lighten the burden on residents, the council has decided to maintain and extend the bonuses to those who demonstrate a commitment to recycling. Among the measures implemented, a <strong>5%<\/strong> reduction in the rate will be offered to those citizens who demonstrate regular use of the <strong>Punto Limpio<\/strong>, thus encouraging waste separation and sustainability on the island.<\/p>\n<h2>Approval of budgets<\/h2>\n<p>In addition to the adjustment in the garbage rate, the plenary of Santa Eul\u00e0ria also approved the budgets for next year, with a significant increase in the item for environmental protection, which will reach <strong>13.7 million euros<\/strong>, and a reinforcement in public safety services, with more than <strong>7 million euros<\/strong> aimed at improving the endowment of police and firefighters.
