The PSOE<\/strong> has expressed its concern about what it considers a “punishment” of the Government of Marga Prohens<\/a><\/strong> to Ibiza<\/strong> and Formentera<\/strong>, reflected in the regional budgets<\/a> for 2025. According to the socialists, the investments planned for Ibiza and Formentera have suffered significant cuts, with a particularly notable decrease in the city of Ibiza, whose item decreases by more than 57%<\/strong> over the previous year. In specific figures, the city of Ibiza<\/strong> will see its investments reduced from 837,363 euros in 2024<\/strong> to just 358,394 euros in 2025<\/strong>, a drop of 57.20%<\/strong>, as denounced by the Socialist deputy Pilar Costa<\/strong>. In the case of Formentera<\/strong>, the investment will go from 103,688 euros to 96,839 euros<\/strong>, representing a decrease of 6.61%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Although the rest of the island of Ibiza experiences a slight increase of 2.82%<\/strong>, with an item that rises from 34.76 million euros to 35.74 million<\/strong>, Costa considers that this increase is “insufficient” to meet the needs of infrastructure and public services that the island demands.<\/p>\n

Concern about the Government’s priorities<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The deputy has expressed her “indignation” at what she describes as a “sharp cut” and worrying, especially considering that the general budget of the Balearic Islands for 2025 will be “the highest in history”, with almost 7,500 million euros<\/strong>. According to Costa, it is incomprehensible that investments in the Pitiusas Islands decrease while the Government has more resources than ever. The Agrupaci\u00f3n Socialista de Vila<\/strong> has criticized what they consider a “total disregard” of the Govern towards the capital of the island, stressing that this lack of investment harms both residents and economic sectors that depend on quality public infrastructure. <\/p>\n

Demands for more equitable distribution<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The PSOE has asked the Balearic Executive to reconsider these budget items and ensure a more equitable distribution of investments. The socialists insist that Ibiza and Formentera should not be relegated at a time when the Govern has historical resources to meet the needs of all the islands.
