The City Council of Ibiza<\/strong>, in collaboration with the brand Sabors of the Consell Insular de Ibiza and PIMEEF,<\/strong> organizes for the first time the Flavors Fair,<\/strong> <\/a>which will be held on the Paseo de Vara de Rey from 10:30 to 17:30 this Saturday, November 23.<\/strong> It is a fair that aims to support local produce and traditional cuisine<\/strong>, betting to give visibility to producers, restaurateurs, traders and companies of Ibiza. A total of 21 producers<\/strong> from sectors such as fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, pastries, bread, etc., will participate in the fair offering their products. In addition, attendees will be able to enjoy a popular paella, show cooking,<\/em> Ibizan tapas tastings, workshops for children and background music throughout the day. However, the city’s establishments will not be the only ones to show their culinary qualities, as the Ibiza Red Potato Omelette Contest<\/strong> returns with its second edition. This contest is open to all cooking enthusiasts and lovers of cooking in groups, clubs or associations. Registrations can be made until November 20 at 15:00 hours through the Ibiza Participa<\/strong> website.<\/strong> Alex Minchiotti<\/strong>, Councillor for Trade and Markets of the City Council of Ibiza, invites everyone to attend the 23rd to this fair, because, according to him, “it is impossible that people do not find things they like; the sample and gastronomic offer will be very wide”.<\/p>\n

The contest<\/h2>\n

To carry out the contest, the City Council will provide the participating groups with a 3 by 2 meter tent, three tables with trestles and 10 chairs. The teams, on the other hand, must carry the utensils, tools, equipment and fuel necessary for cooking, in addition to the ingredients they deem necessary.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The City Council will provide the red potato<\/strong>(5 kilograms per team), which must be collected between 10:00 and 12:00 hours at the Paseo de Vara de Rey. Pre-cooked food will not be allowed.<\/strong> The dish must be finished and presented by 2:00 p.m., at which time the jury will proceed to the tasting. The following aspects will be taken into account to award a score from 1 to 10:<\/p>\n

  • The presentation.<\/li>\n
  • The originality of the dish.<\/li>\n
  • The traditional character of the dish.<\/li>\n
  • The difficulty of elaboration.<\/li>\n
  • The use of ingredients typical of Ibicencan gastronomy.<\/li>\n
  • Taste and aroma.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Three prizes will be awarded, consisting of cards with vouchers to spend on products 100% Local Commerce of Ibiza, valid in participating stores in the city. The first prize will be 350 euros, the second prize will be 200 euros and the third prize will be 100 euros.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Thus, the City Council of Ibiza hopes that this Flavors Fair will be a success and that citizens and visitors are encouraged to attend, since there is nothing better than the taste of home.
