The Consell de Ibiza<\/strong><\/a> has urged this Monday the Spanish Government<\/strong> to start serious and effective negotiations with the union representatives of the regular and discretional transport sector, with the aim of resolving the labor conflict that has led to a new strike call on November 28th and 29th<\/strong>. Concern is growing in view of the announcement that the strike could become indefinite if an agreement is not reached. The insular body has expressed its respect for the right to strike and the workers’ legitimate claim for labor improvements, but has also stressed the need to protect public transport users, ensuring that the minimum services to be decreed minimize inconveniences for residents and visitors to the island. <\/p>\n

Record number of users at risk due to conflict<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In recent years, regular transport in Ibiza has experienced a remarkable growth, reaching more than six million users in 2023<\/strong>, according to data from the Department of Transport<\/strong> of the Consell. The improvements implemented have increased the confidence of residents and tourists in the use of public transport, consolidating it as an efficient and sustainable alternative to move around the island.
