The Consell de Ibiza<\/strong><\/a> has announced the launch of the first inventory of the intangible cultural heritage<\/strong> of the island, a project that seeks to collect and assess the historical and cultural wealth<\/strong> of the Pitiusas. In a statement issued Monday, the island institution explained that the work will have the collaboration of the five municipalities and the Institut d’estudis Eivissencs (IEE)<\/strong>. During the presentation, the Councilor for Culture, Education and Heritage, Sara Ramon<\/strong>, stressed that this initiative will collect “all that intangible that shapes our mood, our community identity”.<\/strong> Among the elements to be documented are the Pitiusan foral law, traditions, dances, songs, festivals, crafts and local toponymy<\/strong>. The work, which will be led by a multidisciplinary team of anthropologists, historians and local scholars<\/strong> under the direction of the company Labrit<\/strong>, is shaping up to be a long-term task. “It will be a huge task that will take years to complete<\/strong>, but it is essential to preserve and transmit our intangible heritage,” said Ramon, accompanied by Lina Sansano, head of Heritage, and project managers Gaizka Alangure and Anne Etxarni. The presentation ceremony was attended by representatives of Culture and Heritage of the five municipalities, reflecting the joint commitment to protect and disseminate the cultural expressions that define Ibiza.
