The Local Police of<\/strong> Sant Josep<\/strong><\/a> has closed 2024 with a balance that highlights the complexity and diversity of problems faced by the municipality: 33,422 incidents attended<\/strong> in a year marked by an increase in neighborhood conflicts, environmental actions and cases of gender violence. Mayor Vicent Roig<\/strong>, together with the head of the force, Jos\u00e9 Antonio Granados<\/strong>, presented the results at a press conference, underlining the importance of the increase in staffing<\/strong> implemented last year, which has reduced the pressure on the agents. In addition, he announced the incorporation of 12 new personnel in 2025<\/strong>, a fundamental step to improve the operational capacity in a town that continues to grow.<\/p>\n

Trend-setting incidents<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Among the main concerns of neighbors, traffic-related problems stand out, with 3,474 calls recorded<\/strong> for improper parking (1,560), accidents (559) and alcohol (89) and drug (161) controls. On the other hand, neighborhood conflicts<\/strong> also accounted for a large part of the attention, with 918 incidents<\/strong>, of which noise in tourist dwellings (216) and illegal rentals (204) were the most recurrent cases.<\/p>\n

With partial support, Sant Josep approves a budget of 54.7 million for the next fiscal year<\/a><\/p>\n

In the area of public safety, 2,178 incidents<\/strong> were recorded, including 662 criminal offenses<\/strong> and 247 fights<\/strong>, reflecting the intense activity of the corps in the management of altercations. In addition, the municipality continues to fight against illegal camping<\/strong> and noise<\/strong> problems, which totaled more than 1,300 interventions. <\/p>\n

Gender violence and settlements<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In a more sensitive area, the 51 incidences related to gender and domestic violence<\/strong> highlight the need to continue working to protect victims. Regarding illegal settlements, Granados detailed the case of Can Burgos<\/strong>, a shanty town that once housed 150 substandard housing units and more than 200 places to sleep<\/strong> in high season, and which has now been reduced to about fifteen occupants.<\/p>\n
