This agreement aims to provide accommodation for children and young people with oncohematological diseases, as well as their families, who must travel from <strong>Ibiza, Formentera, Menorca<\/strong> or other locations in Mallorca to receive treatment at the <strong>Son Espases University Hospital<\/strong>. The initiative, signed by the <strong>Councilor for Housing, Territory and Mobility<\/strong>, <strong>Jos\u00e9 Luis Mateo<\/strong>, and the president of Aspanob, <strong>Jaume Coll<\/strong>, will allow families on Ibiza and Formentera to more easily face the logistical and economic challenge of moving outside their islands to receive specialized medical care.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/actualidad\/2024\/12\/18\/vila-aprueba-este-jueves-la-cesion-al-ibavi-de-un-solar-de-la-calle-vicent-serra-i-ovay-para-construir-vpo\/?swcfpc=1\">Vila approves this Thursday the transfer to IBAVI of a plot of land in Vicent Serra i Ovay street to build subsidized housing units<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Essential support for Ibiza and Formentera<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>For families from <strong>Ibiza<\/strong> and <strong>Formentera<\/strong>, who must move to <strong>Palma<\/strong> due to the lack of advanced hospital resources in the Pitiusas, this agreement is a great relief. The apartments, of between 83 and 91 square meters and with three rooms each, will be available from <strong>February<\/strong>, offering a safe and comfortable place while the children undergo treatment in <strong>Son Espases<\/strong>. This agreement ensures greater stability and peace of mind for the Pitiusas families, who previously depended on limited solutions for accommodation during long stays in Mallorca. In addition, Aspanob has emphasized that the homes will have a rotating character, allowing to accommodate more than one family depending on the needs. <\/p>\n<h2><strong>Aspanob doubles its aid capacity<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Thanks to this agreement, Aspanob will double its housing stock from three to six properties in Palma. Until now, the association managed two apartments in property and one for rent. The cession of the <strong>IBAVI<\/strong>, with a symbolic rent of <strong>250 euros per month<\/strong>, will allow the association to expand its capacity of attention without a high additional cost. In the words of Councilor <strong>Jos\u00e9 Luis Mateo<\/strong>, this initiative underscores the Government&#8217;s commitment to vulnerable families: &#8220;Support for the families of Ibiza and Formentera is a priority, and with this agreement we guarantee that those facing these difficult circumstances will have a dignified and adequate solution&#8221;.  <\/p>\n<h2><strong>A solidarity model that benefits the Pitiusas islands<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>IBAVI<\/strong> already has <strong>176 homes agreed<\/strong> with third sector entities and public administrations for groups in vulnerable situations, but this agreement marks a milestone by focusing on a group as specific as families with children with cancer patients. Of these homes, <strong>28<\/strong> are for children or young people at risk of exclusion, but the agreement with Aspanob represents a solidarity and effective model that directly impacts the families of the <strong>Pitiusas<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<h2><strong>Aspanob: a key ally for Pitiusas families<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Since <strong>1987<\/strong>, Aspanob has worked to improve the quality of life of children with cancer and their families. The entity, declared of public utility in <strong>1999<\/strong>, is part of the <strong>Spanish Federation of Parents of Children with Cancer<\/strong> and has been a fundamental pillar for the families of <strong>Ibiza and Formentera<\/strong>, who often face the double burden of medical treatment and temporary uprooting.
