La entrada Ibiza and Formentera prepare for windstorm: yellow warning and 3-meter waves se publicó primero en La Voz De Ibiza.
]]>The Aemet has placed the wind as the main protagonist of the final stretch of the week, especially between Friday and Saturday, when the storm will begin first in Ibiza and Formentera before spreading to the rest of the Balearic Islands.
The meteorological agency has activated a yellow warning for Ibiza and Formentera during the early hours of Friday, January 9, between 00.00 and 08.59 hours.
In that range, maximum gusts of up to 70 km/h are expected, with a wind from the west, with a probability of between 40% and 70%.
In addition, the warning includes a risk of coastal phenomena, with westerly winds of 50 to 60 km/h (force 7) and waves of between 2 and 3 meters, which could complicate the situation on the coast and on maritime routes, especially during the central hours of the warning.
Although the wind will focus the attention, the delegation of Aemet in the Balearic Islands has explained that the arrival of Goretti will also bring a rise in temperatures, with milder minimums and maximums in usual values for the season.
This Wednesday remains a «transition» day, with a cold atmosphere, but from Thursday onwards the frost will disappear and temperatures will rise progressively.
As for rainfall, the Aemet forecasts weak, occasional and isolated showers, especially towards the end of the week and during Saturday, in a context of variable skies and intermittent cloudiness.
Friday and Saturday are expected to be the most active phase of the episode, with moderate to strong winds, turning northwest at night and with a situation of rough seas that could also be repeated during the day on Saturday.
On Sunday, the influence of Goretti will begin to diminish, although there could still be moderate winds with some strong gusts, while temperatures will remain mild for this time of the year.

]]>In addition, strong winds with gusts of up to 70 km/h are forecast for this Friday, as well as coastal risk with waves of 2 to 3 meters.
During Tuesday, the wind chill in Ibiza hovered around 7-8 degrees even at midday, when the thermometer officially read 12 degrees.
The minimum recorded by the Aemet weather station in Ibiza not only surprised residents and tourists, but marked one of the coldest days of the winter on the island so far.
As reported by Aemet Baleares through its social networks, the cold will persist in the archipelago at least until Thursday, January 8, when temperatures will begin to rise slightly and a thermal recovery is expected «to values above normal».
Although it has not snowed in Ibiza, the contrast with the image of the snowy Serra de Tramuntana in Mallorca caught the attention of many users on social networks.
During the night of Epiphany, the first snowfalls of the year occurred in the Balearic Islands, with accumulation at high altitudes from 800 meters. An unusual winter picture in the archipelago, especially at Christmas time.

]]>La entrada Borrasca Francis: why there is talk of a «new Filomena» and what the forecasts say se publicó primero en La Voz De Ibiza.
]]>In the North Atlantic and Europe, an unusual combination of factors is emerging: on the one hand, the Francis squall will advance towards the area around the Peninsula; on the other hand, an omega blockade will favor Spain to be under the influence of the descending branch of the polar jet. This pattern could facilitate the arrival of very cold air masses, of polar or even arctic origin, towards more southern latitudes than usual.
According to current scenarios, from Saturday onwards Francis would push warmer and more humid air from the south, while cold air could descend from the north. Between Sunday and Tuesday, both masses could meet over the Peninsula, giving rise to a very delicate meteorological situation that is difficult to forecast accurately.
The key will be the extent to which the cold air manages to move southward. This will determine both the drop in temperatures and the possibility of more or less extensive snowfall.
Although some models have shown striking scenarios, meteorologists insist that comparing this episode with Filomena is not correct. Beyond the fact that the name of the squall begins with the same letter and that they are winter dates, the starting conditions are different.
Before Filomena, Spain had been under intense and persistent cold for days: in this case, the first impact would be of milder air from the south, before an eventual thermal decrease. For this reason, some experts point out that the situation is more reminiscent of episodes such as Reyes in 2018, when there were snowfalls at low altitudes in large inland areas, but without a generalized collapse.
For now, the most likely scenario is an increase in instability over the weekend, with precipitation over much of the country. The possibility of snow will depend on the exact location of the contact strip between the warm and cold air: if this clash occurs further north, snowfall will be restricted to the usual mountain areas.
If it descends towards the center or the peninsular interior, there could be more prominent snow episodes. However, experts stress that these transition zones are usually very narrow and that the maps may change significantly in the next updates.
Specialists warn that it does not make sense to anticipate major storms based on a single model output, especially several days ahead and in such a complex context. Much remains to be defined and it will be necessary to closely follow the evolution of the Francis squall and the associated cold air.
For now, the recommendation is to get information from official sources and wait for the forecasts to become firmer before drawing conclusions about the real extent of the episode.

]]>La entrada Ibiza and Formentera, in yellow warning for rains in the middle of Christmas se publicó primero en La Voz De Ibiza.
]]>The episode is framed in a particularly unstable end of December in Ibiza, with several consecutive days of rainfall, very cloudy skies and humid atmosphere. As La Voz de Ibiza advanced in the forecast published on Wednesday, Christmas day will be the most complicated of the period, with widespread rains, 100% probability throughout the day and risk of storms.
The forecast is for Thursday to be dominated by persistent rains and showers, with wind tending to the northwest, of moderate intensity, and a slight drop in temperatures, with highs around 13 degrees and lows close to 7, in a context of very high humidity.
Although the situation will tend to soften partially on Friday 26, the Aemet maintains a high probability of precipitation in Ibiza during the next few days, prolonging the unstable pattern that has marked Christmas Eve and will continue during the weekend.
Meanwhile, in the rest of the archipelago the warning will be concentrated on the coast. Menorca will be on yellow alert for coastal phenomena from 23.00 hours this Wednesday until 11.00 hours on Thursday, with wind gusts forecast between 50 and 60 km / h and waves up to three meters.
In Mallorca, the warning will only affect the north and northeast between midnight and 11.00 a.m. on Thursday, with swells that could also reach three meters.
The Aemet recommends following the evolution of the forecast and extreme caution in travel and exposed areas, especially during the central hours of Thursday.

]]>La entrada Spain faces Christmas with one of the most intense cold spells in the last 15 years: what temperatures are expected and why se publicó primero en La Voz De Ibiza.
]]>This meteorological context has made the beginning of the Christmas season the coldest in Spain since 2010 and the sixteenth coldest week since 1950, when the average temperatures of days and nights between 22 and 28 December 2025 are analyzed. In the words of José Ángel Núñez, spokesman for Aemet: «It also results in squalls circulating far south, so that throughout the week we will have squalls circulating around the peninsula».
Although the month of December began with relatively mild temperatures, the situation changed abruptly since last Sunday, with a «sharp drop in temperature» that has surprised many citizens. This thermal decrease, according to Núñez explains, is directly related to the position of the large offensive anticyclone Scandinavian blocking, responsible for moving polar air to southern Europe and favor the arrival of cold fronts and squalls.
The cold episode not only affects maximum temperatures, but also minimum temperatures, with frost in many inland regions. According to the Aemet forecast, after a slight upturn on the eve of Christmas Eve, a further drop in temperatures is expected on Christmas Day, which will continue on December 26, a day that could become the coldest of the month and of the year 2025 to date.
According to Aemet weather records, which go back to 1950, the week of December 22-28, 2025 is shaping up to be the sixteenth coldest on record in that period of more than seven decades. The coldest of that long record remain the weeks of 1970, 1962, and 2001. In contrast, the warmest weeks correspond to 2022, 1995 and 2021.
The Aemet spokesman highlights the contrast with recent years: «There is a strong contrast with recent years, especially 2021 and 2022, which had very warm Christmases.» This underlines the exceptionality of the current situation, since in recent years the trend has been towards milder winters in much of the Spanish territory.
This cold winter comes in a context of climate change that, according to official data, has caused a thermal rise of 2.1 degrees since 1950 during the first week of Christmas. Despite this historical increase in average temperatures, cold episodes like the current one may continue to occur, although the Aemet warns that «although not impossible, it is very unlikely to return to have a Christmas as cold as that of 1962» with the same frequency as in the past.
The cold is not limited to the week in general: also the most important days of the Christmas calendar are registered among the coldest in decades. Christmas 2025 will be the coldest Christmas since 2010, based on historical records since 1962.
In that data series, the 1962 Christmas is listed as the coldest, followed by those observed in 1970 and 2001. In contrast, the warmest Christmases occurred in 1977, 1995 and 2022. The cold of 1962 was extraordinary: on that Christmas Day the average temperature in Spain was -4 degrees, with cities such as Madrid below zero throughout the day. In addition, snowfalls were recorded in such unusual places as Barcelona and Alicante.
This type of historical comparison helps to contextualize the current episode, which although it does not exceed the extreme values of half a century ago, it is among the coldest in recent decades.
Such a drop in temperatures has tangible effects on daily life: from the need to take extreme precautions when driving due to morning frost to an increase in energy consumption in homes and a greater risk of illnesses related to low temperatures. In these cases, health authorities usually remind us of the importance of protecting the most vulnerable groups, such as children, the elderly and people with respiratory or cardiovascular problems.
In addition, activities traditionally held outdoors at this time of the year, such as Christmas morning strolls or Epiphany parades, may be affected by low temperatures, forcing organizers and the public to take appropriate clothing and additional precautions.
The analysis of the climatic pattern in the medium and long term points to a general warming trend, but without excluding episodes of intense cold linked to particular atmospheric phenomena such as the one currently observed. This poses a variable winter scenario, where warm periods coexist with significant cold waves, depending on the configuration of large pressure centers and the interaction with cold currents.
The current meteorological situation, driven by the Scandinavian blocking anticyclone, has demonstrated how dynamic factors can trigger extreme conditions, even in a context of increasing average temperature. Whether or not similar episodes will be repeated in the future will depend on multiple climatic and atmospheric variables, as well as the global evolution of climate change.

For Tuesday 23, the situation will be similar, with a 55% probability of rain, and temperatures that will be around 7 to 14 degrees Celsius.
Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 24, will be accompanied by a 70% chance of rain and cloudy skies. The north wind will contribute to a colder wind chill, with a snow elevation that will drop to 1,000 meters.
Temperatures will remain between 7 and 14 degrees, with no significant variations.
On Christmas Day, Thursday 25, the situation worsens: the Aemet raises to 90% the probability of precipitation, keeping the minimum and maximum temperatures in the same records.
From Friday 26, the thermometer will rise slightly to reach 16 degrees, although the rain will not stop. The probability of rainfall in Ibiza will remain very high, between 95 and 100%, until Saturday, December 27.

]]>La entrada Balearic Islands prepare for rain, mud and lower thermometer in the middle of season change se publicó primero en La Voz De Ibiza.
]]>Friday will begin with cloudy intervals that will end up giving way to an overcast sky in the Islands, with the probability of rainfall that could be accompanied by mud, especially in Mallorca and the Pitiusas. The combination of humidity and dense clouds sets the stage for a rainy weekend.
As for temperatures, they will remain unchanged compared to recent days, with highs ranging between 17ºC and 19ºC, still above the usual for mid-December, when the thermometer usually hovers around 16ºC in the archipelago.
On Saturday, however, the arrival of a new disturbance is expected to cause overcast skies with rain and showers, which in some places could be locally strong and be accompanied by thunderstorms.
For this reason, the Aemet plans to activate yellow warnings for risk of rain in several areas: Serra de Tramuntana, north and northeast of Mallorca, east of Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza and Formentera. This weather situation warns of possible water accumulations that, added to wind and instability, could complicate mobility and outdoor activities.
Temperatures are expected to remain stable or even decrease slightly. Highs could remain between 15ºC and 17ºC, while lows will be between 7ºC and 12ºC. As a reference, the Aemet recalls that the normal for this time of year in the Balearic Islands is that the minimum temperatures are around 7ºC.
The thermal decrease will be more evident during the course of the weekend and especially from Monday onwards, when more typically wintry days are expected.
On Sunday, the day when winter officially begins, a temporary improvement of the weather is expected in the central hours of the day in the Balearic Islands, which will allow intervals of less cloudiness. However, stability will be short-lived.
During the early morning could register some rains, which may return at night and continue into Monday and Tuesday. For Monday, the Aemet even warns of the possibility of precipitation in the form of hail, and snow on the peaks above 1,000 meters, unusual conditions in the islands but possible in elevated areas under cold currents.
On Tuesday, although the trough will continue to affect the archipelago, the weather is expected to improve in the Pitiusas, slightly softening the conditions in those islands.
In addition to atmospheric instability, temperatures will suffer a more marked drop starting Monday, leading to cold winter days. Highs will be between 12ºC and 15ºC, while lows could range between 4ºC and 9ºC.
This thermal change will imply a general feeling of cold more typical of the winter season and could influence the way in which the inhabitants and visitors of the Balearic Islands plan their activities, especially outdoors.
With the official start of winter on December 21, the Balearic Islands will experience a transition marked by instability: showers, mud, below normal temperatures and a colder environment. The Aemet continues to monitor the situation to adjust its warnings and recommendations.
In summary, the next few days in the Balearic Islands will be dominated by overcast skies, intermittent rain, risk of thunderstorms and a drop in thermometers, accompanied by possible winter phenomena in high areas and atmospheric conditions typical of a significant change of season.
This forecast invites the population to plan their trips with caution, wear appropriate clothing for the cold and keep informed about the evolution of the weather, especially during the weekend and the beginning of next week. With the arrival of winter, the archipelago will experience a period of harsher weather than usual for this time of year, although without major anomalies with respect to the weather calendar.

]]>From Tuesday and at least until Sunday, a sustained episode of rainfall is expected, which has forced to activate the yellow warning for heavy rains.
The most intense episode was scheduled for this Wednesday, with a yellow warning from midnight to 14.59 hours. The forecast calls for rainfall that could reach 20 liters per square meter in just one hour.
Throughout the day, the probability of rain remains above 75%, accompanied by a northeast wind of up to 25 km/h, which could accentuate the thermal sensation of cold and bad weather.
Thursday could bring a slight lull, although the rain will not disappear completely: the Aemet forecasts a 50% chance of precipitation in the early morning and 45% during the day, without ruling out occasional showers.
Minimum temperatures will drop to 12ºC, while maximum temperatures could reach 18ºC, with moderate wind from the east and northeast.
On Friday, instability will intensify again, with a 60% chance of rain in the morning and 75% in the afternoon. The atmospheric situation will remain without great thermal changes, with minimum temperatures around 10ºC and maximum temperatures up to 18ºC. The wind will blow lightly to moderately from the northeast.
Saturday and Sunday are expected to be the wettest days of the week, with a 100% chance of precipitation in both cases.
Highs will not exceed 16ºC, completing a week dominated by water in the Pitiusas.

The sky will remain cloudy or overcast, with persistent showers, although of less intensity towards the night.
The wind from the northeast will blow strongly, reaching maximum gusts of up to 40 km/h. Temperatures will remain stable, with highs of 17 degrees and lows around 11 degrees.
From Thursday 18, the weather situation will tend to a slight improvement, although precipitation will not disappear. Cloudy intervals with weak rains are expected, with a probability of rain of 75%, and a snow elevation located around 1,400 meters, without direct affectation to the island.
The wind will continue to blow from the northeast, although with less intensity, and temperatures will rise slightly to a maximum of 18 degrees.
Looking ahead to Friday and the weekend, the AEMET maintains the forecast of recurrent rains. On Friday 19 cloudy intervals with rain are expected, while on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 the sky will be overcast or with cloudy intervals and precipitation, with probabilities that are again at 100%.
Temperatures will remain mild, with highs between 16 and 18 degrees, and lows that could drop to 9 degrees.

]]>La entrada AEMET warns about squall Emilia: the affected areas and how long it will last se publicó primero en La Voz De Ibiza.
]]>The agency warns of an episode of instability marked by torrential rains, very intense wind, sea storms and snowfall in mountainous areas.
According to the Aemet, the core of Emilia will be located on Friday between the Gulf of Cadiz and the Canary Islands, moving cold and humid air that will leave persistent rainfall in the southwest peninsular, the Strait and much of the islands. The rains may be accompanied by storms and hail, a scenario that will be repeated during the early hours of Saturday.
The weather agency also stresses the probability of snowfall at high altitudes of the Peninsula: even the Canary Islands could record episodes of snow on the highest peaks, due to the cold air associated with the squall.
The forecast indicates that the Canary Islands will be one of the territories most affected by the squall, with a particularly complex weekend. From Friday very intense showers are expected, but it will be on Saturday 13 when the storm will gain strength, first in the eastern islands and, hours later, in the western ones.
The Aemet forecasts gusts above 90 km/h in mountainous areas, as well as an intense swell that could generate risky situations in coastal areas. The agency warns of the possible fall of branches, displacement of objects, occasional flooding and a strong sea storm that could drag people on breakwaters, beaches or cliffs.
On the Peninsula, the most outstanding episodes will be concentrated in:
Southern Andalusia
Ceuta and Melilla
Strait areas
These torrential rains could spread towards the Mediterranean coast throughout the weekend, reaching regions such as Murcia, Valencia, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.
From Sunday, Emilia will begin to lose strength as it moves eastward. Even so, the squall will leave a trail of instability that could remain in the southeast and Levante early next week, with intermittent showers and cloudy skies over much of the country.
In spite of the storm, temperatures will not experience large drops: in fact, in areas of the inland west and the Ebro valley a moderate rise is expected, with values that could be between 10 and 15 degrees, somewhat high for mid-December.
In contrast, minimum temperatures will drop in the Canary Islands and in areas of the northwest peninsular, where the arrival of cold air and the north wind will favor a more winter-like atmosphere: weak frosts will persist in the mountains of the northern half and snowfalls are not ruled out on the peaks of the highest islands.
The storm Emilia is one of the first major storms of the season and is accompanied by a sharp contrast in temperature, widespread rain and a particularly aggressive wind in the Canary Islands. Although the situation will tend to improve on Sunday, the Aemet maintains the recommendation to exercise extreme caution in the areas most exposed to rain, wind and waves.

]]>Winter will begin on December 21 at 16.03 hours and will last until March 20, with a total duration of 88 days. AEMET anticipates that between January and March 2026 temperatures will be higher than usual, standing above 12 °C on average in Ibiza and 13 °C in Formentera.
Throughout the quarter, the thermal trend will decrease until the end of January and then rebound towards spring, although the agency stresses that most days will record above-average values. As for rainfall, a normal situation is expected, around 106 l/m² in Ibiza and 75 l/m² in Formentera.
For the Christmas period, the models forecast mild temperatures, with highs of 16-17 °C and lows of 8 °C, plus the possibility of some rain that could add up to 28 l/m², the usual value for these dates.
The autumn of 2025 was characterized by a very warm environment, with average temperatures of 19.7 °C in Ibiza and 21.1 °C in Formentera. The anomalies recorded (+0.7 °C and +0.6 °C, respectively) reflect a clear upward trend.
September was the hottest month, followed by October and November. The number of tropical nights, those with minimums equal to or above 20 °C, increased markedly: at Ibiza Airport alone, 20 tropical nights were recorded, 15% more than usual.
If anything has marked the autumn in Ibiza and Formentera, it has been the rain. Ibiza recorded an average of 362 l/m², 91% above the normal value, while in Formentera it reached 237 l/m², 70% more than usual. In Ibiza it practically rained in one quarter what usually falls in the whole year.
Episodes of torrential rains were decisive. On September 30, the Ex-Gabrielle squall left 253 l/m² in Eivissa, the maximum since records have been kept (2015), and 176 l/m² at the Airport, an all-time record since 1952. Formentera collected 115 l/m² that same day. In addition, September closed with a monthly record in Eivissa: 264 l/m².
On October 11, another DANA, baptized Alice, discharged again with intensity: 89.4 l/m² at Ibiza Airport and 78.8 l/m² at Formentera.
Despite this succession of severe episodes, the number of days with storms remained within the normal range: 13 days, compared to the usual 14.
The autumn also left normal values of strong wind: 13 days recorded at Ibiza Airport. The maximum gust of the quarter reached 87 km/h during the squall Benjamin, on October 23. In Formentera, the most intense gust was 55 km/h on November 21.
With the year still to close, 2025 is confirmed as a very warm and humid period: anomalies of +1.1 °C in Ibiza and +0.8 °C in Formentera, in addition to an increase in precipitation of 21% and 16%, respectively.

Regarding wind, in addition to Ibiza and Formentera, other provinces with yellow warning will be Almería, Granada, Albacete, Cantabria (coast), Tarragona, Murcia (northwest), Vizcaya, Alicante, Castellón and Valencia. As for coastal phenomena, the warning is also activated in Pontevedra, Melilla, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas, with more intense alert levels – orange – in Asturias, Cantabria, A Coruña, Lugo, Guipúzcoa and Vizcaya.
The forecast for Thursday points to very strong gusts of wind in the south of the Balearic Islands, the Cantabrian Sea, Alboran and large areas of the southeast and the eastern coast of the peninsula, with likely peaks of up to 90 km / h on the coasts of Cantabria and Vizcaya.
During the day on Thursday is expected the passage of several fronts that will leave cloudy or overcast skies in much of the country, as well as widespread rainfall. Although in Ibiza and Formentera the rains will be unlikely and, if they occur, occasional, in other areas such as Galicia, the western Pyrenees and the Cantabrian area, rainfall could be persistent, heavy and accompanied by storms or hail.
Snowfall is also expected in the main mountain systems of the north and southeast of the peninsula, with heights between 1,000 and 1,800 meters depending on the area.
Regarding temperatures, minimum temperatures will increase in the Balearic Islands, while maximum temperatures will remain unchanged. The west wind will blow strongly, especially in the south of the Balearic archipelago, with very strong gusts that could hinder navigation and generate incidents in coastal areas.

]]>The storm will be characterized by winds of 50 to 60 km / h, corresponding to force 7 on the Beaufort scale, which will especially affect the most exposed areas of the coast pitiuso. The Aemet also expects waves of up to three meters, which will force to exercise extreme caution on beaches, ports and coastal areas where the sea usually impacts with greater force.
Although the most intense warnings are concentrated in Menorca, where the risk will be important (orange level) with waves that could reach between 4 and 6 meters and a maximum wave of up to 12 meters, in Ibiza and Formentera the storm will also be significant and could affect maritime operations, including routes between islands.
The episode is part of a strong northern situation that will also impact Mallorca, with active warnings in the Sierra de Tramontana and the south of the island. In both cases, winds of 40 to 60 km/h and waves close to three meters are expected.

]]>As reported by Emergencies through a message on the social network X, the alerts in Menorca have been deactivated, although extreme caution is recommended in the rest of the archipelago in view of the evolution of the storm.
In Ibiza and Formentera, the yellow warning for wind will remain active between 04:00 and 23:59 hours, with gusts that can reach 70 kilometers per hour. The maritime situation will also be adverse in Mallorca, where the south and the Llevant area will activate the yellow warning for coastal phenomena from 10:00 to 23:59 hours. Gusts of 50 to 60 km / h and waves that could exceed three meters high are expected.
For Tuesday, Aemet maintains for the moment the same yellow warnings in Ibiza, Formentera and Mallorca, pending the evolution of the wind and the state of the sea during the next hours.

]]>The yellow warning remains active for rough seas, with significant swell and adverse conditions for navigation and maritime activities. The Aemet warns of combined sea and strong wind on the coast, from 6 am to midnight.
This Sunday is stable on the island, with little cloudy sky and zero probability of rain throughout the day. Temperatures will rise slightly compared to previous days, with 9 degrees minimum and 18 degrees maximum. The wind will blow lightly, with gusts of 10 to 20 kilometers per hour, from the west and southwest.
For Monday, the Aemet forecasts a moderate increase in cloudiness, with a 10% chance of rain in the morning and 25% in the afternoon. Temperatures remain mild for the season, with lows of 12 degrees and highs of 20 degrees. The wind will blow more intensely than on Sunday, with gusts reaching 35 kilometers per hour in the first half of the day and 30 kilometers per hour in the afternoon.
The Pitiusas have recorded wind gusts of up to 37 kilometers per hour on Saturday at the weather station at the airport of es Codolar. In Formentera, the most powerful gust has reached 36 kilometers per hour, and in Ibiza town, 31 kilometers per hour.

]]>The arrival of a mass of air of arctic origin has left this week a sharp drop in temperatures on both islands. The dawn of Thursday became the coldest of the last days, with 6ºC registered in Sant Joan de Labritja, the lowest minimum value of the week in the archipelago.
The forecast details that gusts from the north and northeast are expected to reach 70 km/h, as well as a sustained wind of between 50 and 60 km/h (force 7) on the coast, which will generate a swell of up to three meters. In view of these conditions, extreme caution is recommended in exposed areas and maritime activities should be avoided.
However, from Sunday onwards, the trend points to a slight rise in temperatures, both in minimum and maximum temperatures.
In the Balearic Islands as a whole, the irruption of arctic air will leave instability, humidity and showers, with the possibility of thunderstorms and small hail. In the Serra de Tramuntana, the forecasts even contemplate the appearance of snow at the highest altitudes.

]]>The greatest thicknesses are expected in Leon, where they could accumulate up to 15 centimeters in 24 hours above 1,000 meters. The AEMET maintains the snow warnings also for Thursday due to the persistence of the winter episode. In addition, minimum temperatures will fall to -3ºC in provinces such as Soria and Ávila, with weak frosts in large areas of the northern interior and moderate frosts in the Pyrenees and Iberia.
The front will leave overcast skies in much of the northern third of the peninsula and precipitation that will affect Galicia, the upper Ebro, the northern Iberian, the Pyrenees and especially the Cantabrian area, where they could be persistent. Snowfall is also expected in mountain areas, with a height that will drop from 1,500 meters to between 800 and 1,000 meters at the end of the day.
In the rest of the country a more stable atmosphere will prevail, with intervals of high clouds and morning fog banks in the plateaus, the southeast peninsular and Mallorca. In the archipelagos cloudy skies with occasional showers are expected, less likely in the eastern Canary Islands, where moderate trade winds will blow.
Maximum temperatures will rise slightly in the eastern Cantabrian and the upper Ebro, while they will fall in the rest of the northern third, the Meseta and the west of the peninsula. The wind, from the west and north, will blow with intensity in the Balearic Islands, the Strait, Alboran and the eastern coasts, with likely very strong gusts in the lower Ebro, Ampurdán, Galicia and the Cantabrian.
The combination of snow, cold and wind is creating a wintry outlook that will last for the next few hours in much of the northern part of the country. Do you want me to prepare a shorter version or a more prominent focus for social networks?

]]>Although the most severe effects of the episode will be concentrated in the northern third of the peninsula, where snowfall warnings have already been activated at altitudes below 600 meters, the Balearic archipelago will also feel the full irruption of cold air. In the case of Ibiza, the snow level will begin the week located around 1,400 meters – a symbolic altitude in the Pitiusas – but will gradually decline as the storm progresses to stand at around 600 meters on Friday, the day that is expected colder.
The day will start with cloudy intervals and some possible weak precipitation, especially at dawn and during the morning. Temperatures will range between
Thursday will mark the beginning of the wettest phase of the episode. Although during the morning the risk of rain will be low, from noon it will increase considerably. Highs will drop to 15 degrees and lows will be around 9 degrees, with a north wind that may blow moderately, reinforcing the wintry feeling.
Friday will be the most complicated day of the week. The Aemet forecasts
On Saturday there will still be some instability, with possible showers during the morning and temperatures between 7 and 15 degrees. However, a slight improvement will be noticed as we await a change of air mass that, according to Aemet, could arrive from the Atlantic in the afternoon and favor a progressive thermal rise.
Sunday will bring a respite: partly clear skies, low probability of rain and an upturn in temperatures, which could be between 9 and 19 degrees.

]]>While the Pitiusas Islands maintain the yellow warning, the 112 Emergency Service has raised to orange level the alert for rainfall in Menorca and in the north and northeast of Mallorca, where it can reach between 50 and 60 liters per square meter in an hour. The rest of Mallorca remains at yellow level, with expected accumulated rainfall of between 20 and 30 liters per square meter.
In Mallorca and Menorca the yellow warning for coastal phenomena is still active, with waves of up to three meters in the north of Mallorca and up to four meters in Menorca, accompanied by gusts of wind that could reach 60 kilometers per hour. In the Pitiusas, the episode will focus mainly on rain and very cloudy skies throughout the day.
Emergencies advises to protect accesses to prevent water from entering, remove objects susceptible to being washed away by the rain, do not go down to basements or garages, turn off the electricity in case of flooding and exercise extreme caution when driving.
This situation of instability comes in parallel to a remarkable change of weather in the Peninsula, where a mass of cold air of arctic origin will cause widespread frost and freezing temperatures between Thursday and Friday. Although in the Balearic Islands the temperature drop will be more moderate, a cool environment is expected for the season, with minimum temperatures around 9-10 degrees and maximum temperatures that will barely exceed 18.
From Wednesday onwards, some improvement is expected in the Pitiusas, with less probability of rain. Even so, the authorities recommend following the meteorological evolution and heeding all official indications while the warning remains active.

]]>La entrada Snow in the Balearic Islands? Winter bursts in Mallorca with a thermal plunge and risk of snowfall in high areas. se publicó primero en La Voz De Ibiza.
]]>The week starts this Monday, November 17 with cloudy intervals and occasional showers, which in Mallorca and Menorca may be locally strong and be accompanied by thunderstorms, especially from noon. Temperatures will remain unchanged until early afternoon, when they will start to decrease. The wind will blow lightly to moderately from the west, turning north as the afternoon progresses.
The Aemet warns that, from midweek, the archipelago will experience a very marked change in the weather. The arrival of a mass of very cold air will completely transform the environment, installing full winter conditions.
One of the most important factors will be the snow level, which will gradually decrease. Between Friday and Saturday, it will be around 800 meters, coinciding with the precipitation forecast. In this context, occasional snowfalls are not ruled out in the highest areas of Mallorca, especially in the Serra de Tramuntana.
The contrast with the weekend will be striking: while in municipalities such as Puerto de Sóller, Faro de Capdepera, Portocolom, Campos or Banyalbufar the thermometers did not drop below 20 degrees, at the end of this week the maximum temperatures will be even lower than these mild minimums.
The day will be marked by cloudy intervals and occasional precipitation. Temperatures will continue to drop and, in much of the island, the maximum will no longer exceed 20 degrees, a value that is usually considered normal for these dates. The wind will blow light or moderate from the north.
Cloudy intervals with weak and occasional showers are expected. Temperatures will hardly change, although they could experience a slight decrease. The wind will be light, tending to the west and northwest during the morning.
A new round of cloudy to overcast skies will bring heavier showers in the afternoon. The snow level will drop to 900 meters, while temperatures will remain stable in the early morning, but will drop during the day, reaching minimums at the end of the day.
The wind will blow lightly from the west, increasing to moderate from the north, with strong intervals in the afternoon.
It will be the peak of the thermal plunge. In Palma, the maximum could not exceed 14 degrees, a value clearly below the usual. Rains are expected and a snow level located around 800 meters, which puts back on the table the real possibility of snow episodes on the summits.
Finally, the Aemet predicts that the storm will begin to lose intensity from Saturday, when it is expected the appearance of intervals of clear skies and a slight rebound in temperatures, which will return to normal values for the autumn season. In any case, the meteorological agency warns that there is still a margin of uncertainty and it will be necessary to closely follow the evolution of the models in the coming days.

]]>Monday will have temperatures between 15 and 18 degrees, and a probability of precipitation that will reach 80% during the morning. The snow level in the province is around 1,400 meters, although it does not directly affect the archipelago. The wind will blow from north and northwest components, with gusts around 15 km/h, and a very low UV index, typical of the time of year.

Tuesday will continue with a changing scenario: rains will be less likely during the day (30% and 25%), but will intensify in the early morning with a 90% probability. Temperatures will range between 11 and 18 degrees, with the snow elevation dropping to 1,100 meters.
Wednesday is shaping up to be one of the wettest days of the week. The probability of precipitation will reach
Thursday will be, according to the forecast, the most adverse day. With temperatures between
Friday will be wintry, with lows of 3 degrees and highs of only 13 degrees. The probability of precipitation will remain high(100% in some sections) and the weather warnings for Ibiza and Formentera will remain active due to persistent rainfall.
Saturday and Sunday will bring a slight thermal respite, with highs of 16 and 18 degrees, respectively. However, the chance of precipitation will continue, especially on Saturday morning(90 %). On Sunday, although the probability drops to 35%, isolated showers are not ruled out.
The combination of north wind, falling temperatures and high probability of rainfall configures a fully autumn scenario -even winter at times- for Eivissa. Although the ultraviolet index remains low and does not represent a risk, the population is advised to exercise extreme caution when traveling, especially in the time slots with higher rainfall intensity.

]]>In this way, the severity index 0 of the Meteobal Plan for rains and storms is activated, so the 112 Balearic Islands has called for caution in the coming hours, to follow the advice of the authorities and call 112 in case of an emergency, as indicated in his account on the social network X.
This advice would include taking measures to prevent water from entering through doors and windows, not leaving furniture or objects outside that could be swept away by the water, staying in high areas of the house and not going down to flood areas such as garages or basements and, in the event of flooding, turning off the main switch.
If rain begins to fall while driving, it is recommended to reduce speed, keep a safe distance and drive on main roads.
The Aemet for its part will remain active alert from 07.00 to 14.00 hours in Formentera, Ibiza and Mallorca, where in addition to rainfall are expected gusts of strong wind.
