]]>Bahía Negocis recalled that for years administrations, businesses and residents have worked to consolidate the tourist brand «Cala de Bou», and that «all that effort is compromised» when expressions are used that associate the neighborhood with crime. According to the association, the official denomination has made it possible to «differentiate» the area and build an identity of its own, a process that -they stress- cannot be «undermined by headlines that put impact before informative rigor».
The business collective stated that «there is no data to prove» that Cala de Bou suffers more robberies or thefts than other parts of Ibiza. «Incidents of insecurity occur in different areas of the island and are not an exclusive problem or especially aggravated in our bay,» they point out. In this sense, they consider that generating social alarm «only fragments the community» and harms residents and economic activity.
The association defended that Cala de Bou is an area «in constant improvement«, with significant private investments in business renovation that have sought to raise the quality of supply. According to Bahia Negocis, these transformations have consolidated an economic fabric «capable of serving residents and visitors all year round», which, in its opinion, «does not correspond to the image disseminated in the article in question».
A message that seems to contrast with the one that the association itself transmitted two weeks ago, when it warned that the area could become a «ghost town» if urgent urban development actions were not carried out before the 2026 season. On that occasion they denounced closures of businesses and an «obsolete» urban environment (although they did not speak of insecurity specifically).
The entity requests two specific actions from the City Council:
An official communiqué with real data on safety in the neighborhood.
A public endorsement of the image of Cala de Bou as a safe and prosperous environment.
The collective made an «appeal to informative responsibility» to protect both economic activity and neighborhood pride. It also reiterated its willingness to meet with the Consistory to «collaborate in all necessary improvements» in the municipality.
