]]>The race maintained its traditional format: a fast and demanding course, starting at the port and finishing in the upper part of the city, crowning the finish line at the gates of the monumental Cathedral, in one of the most symbolic New Year’s Eve races on the island.
In the men’s absolute classification, the victory went to Mark Roper Planells (C.A. Pitiús), who stopped the clock in 7:17. Second place went to Mauro García-Vallés Cannestracci (C.A. Pitiús) with 7:30.9, while third place went to Josep Torres Riera (C.A. Vallenc) with 7:40.2.

]]>After the Christmas holidays, the Josepina race has become the first big goal of the calendar for many local runners. An ideal scenario to put on a race bib again, check sensations and start the sporting year recovering pace and form, in a context that combines demand and enjoyment.
One of the main hallmarks of the 5K Ibiza-Platja d’en Bossa is its urban route of 5,000 meters, completely flat and especially attractive for runners.
This profile favors good records and allows most participants to get their best version, which explains why during these previous days it is common to see many athletes training on the course to gain confidence and references.
The balance between a competitive race and its markedly popular character is another key to its success. The race allows a wide and diverse participation, from experienced athletes to amateur runners who find in this event a perfect motivation to start the season.
The race will be held on Sunday, January 11, starting at 9:00 am, and the interest generated has been such that the quota of participants was exhausted more than a month ago. Even so, the organization is keeping a waiting list open to cover possible last minute cancellations.
To improve the flow and development of the race, two different starts have been established. At 9:00 a.m., runners expected to finish in less than 25 minutes will start, while at 9:10 a.m., runners with estimated times between 25 and 35 minutes will start.
At the end of the race, the Sant Josep Town Hall and the Consell d’Eivissa will award 60 trophies, distributed among the different categories included in the regulations. In addition, the La Sirena Shopping Center will award the first three absolute finishers, both male and female, with shopping vouchers.
The last edition left outstanding performances, such as the new female record signed by Andrea Romero from Formentera with a time of 16:28, or the third triumph of the athlete from Santa Eulària Adrián Guirado. The male record of the race remains in the hands of the Moroccan Youssef Ben Hadi, with a spectacular record of 13:53 achieved in the first edition of 2021.
A month later will come the next big milestone of the island’s athletic calendar. It will be on February 15 when the 10K Ibiza-Platja d’en Bossa, which this year will be held in conjunction with the Spanish Championship, reinforcing the prominence of the island as a major stage of national athletics.

In addition to the main 10K race, the event will include the exciting 5K Toni Costa Balanzat and children’s races, encouraging the participation of the whole family.
The 2025 edition will count with the presence of three outstanding runners that guarantee the quality of the event:
«This race not only represents a sporting challenge, but also a connection with the historical and cultural soul of Ibiza,» Rafael Triguero emphasized during the presentation.
The Cursa Patrimoni d’Eivissa will be the starting point of the World Heritage Cities Circuit 2025, a tour of 15 Spanish cities recognized by UNESCO, which highlights their cultural wealth through sport.
The event also reinforces the Consell de Ibiza’s strategy to consolidate the island as a top-level sports destination. «These types of competitions show that Ibiza is much more than sun and beach. It is a place where culture and sport merge to offer unique experiences,» Triguero pointed out.

]]>The 10K Ibiza-Platja d’en Bossa, which celebrates its fifth edition, is already a reference in the national athletic calendar. With a current record of 27:18, set by Kenyan Benson Kiplangat in 2023, the race has seen some of the best long-distance runners in the world parade. In 2022, Adel Mechaal came close to breaking the national record with a time of 27:50, falling just two seconds short of the best Spanish time at the time.
Now, Ndikumwenayo arrives in Ibiza backed by his impressive track record. Nicknamed ‘Tiger’, the athlete has proven to be a world-class figure. Among his achievements, the Spanish record in the 10,000 meters ( 26:49.49) at the Paris Olympics stands out, making him the first Spaniard to run under 27 minutes at this distance. He also holds the national record in the 3,000 meters (7:25.93) and has achieved a time of 12:48.10 in the 5,000 meters, consolidating his position as one of the best long-distance runners in the history of Spain.
In addition to seeking the national record, Ndikumwenayo could have his sights set on the European 10K record, set at 27:04 by Frenchman Etienne Daguinos in November 2024. The organization has confirmed that the athlete will be supported by Rodrigue Kwizera as hare, a detail that underlines the seriousness with which this feat is being prepared.
The 10K Ibiza-Platja d’en Bossa will not only be an outstanding sporting event, but also an opportunity for spectators to witness a historic moment in Spanish and European athletics. With its idyllic setting and fast course, this race promises to be the perfect stage for Ndikumwenayo to show why he is considered the best national long-distance runner of the moment.

]]>While in 2024 there were 4,800 registrants (a third of them foreigners), for the 2025 edition, scheduled for Saturday, April 12, there are already 3,500 runners who have already reserved their place.
For the coming year, the program will once again offer three distances: marathon (42 kilometers), half marathon (22 kilometers) and 12 kilometers.) This will allow, as in the previous seven editions, athletes of different levels and physical condition to participate: from elite athletes to amateur runners. For example, last year Kenyan Aspel Kiptoo Kiprop was the fastest in the marathon, the star distance, with a time of 02:27:16. As in previous years, the race will start in the Port of Ibiza, run through different parts of the island and finish by the sea. In addition to the three races on the program, the event will organize, as usual, parallel activities (such as the Runner’s Fair or Ibiza Kids Run) in which both runners and accompanying persons or neighbors of the island can participate.

«With only four months to go (April 12, 2025), there is no doubt that the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon will once again become a major sporting event», the event’s organizers have confided. Registrations are still open, now in its third price bracket. The costs per race bib are 85€ (42K), 55€ (22K) and 35€ (12K). Registrations are open on the official website of the event.
