]]>In a statement, the socialists have stated that«the PSOE will not give away its vote» and have reiterated that they will only abstain if the island government team incorporates written commitments, with a budget, schedule and compliance control.
The PSOE has recalled that in 2025 an abstention agreement was reached linked to several conditions, an agreement that has not been fulfilled, with pending commitments such as the one related to the modification of the rate.
For this reason, the formation now sets an «insurmountable» condition, as it has insisted. Among other things, it has demanded that the modification of the rate be drafted in the first six months of 2026, aimed at a more equitable and proportional system.
They have also demanded an item for the drafting of the project of the Cultural Center of Sant Ferran, with a timetable for drafting and bidding in 2026. In addition, they have asked for an item for the kennel, with defined actions to ensure a decent and efficient service, as well as an item to intervene in Es Campament.
The socialists have demanded an investment for the remodeling of playgrounds; the improvement and expansion of the cemetery or improvement actions on the road to Es Cap, among other things.
On housing, the PSOE has demanded the expansion of the portfolio of services in the Housing Office, with an endowment and monitoring of rental prices and the deployment of a proactive policy from the Office to help solve the housing problem in Formentera.
«The PSOE will not give away its vote. In 2025 we accepted an agreement with conditions that have not been fulfilled and, therefore, we are demanding written commitments, deadlines and follow-ups. There is an insurmountable condition: the modification of the garbage collection fee that must be drafted in the first half of the year so that those who generate more, pay more. In housing, it is not enough to open an office, we must expand the portfolio of services, incorporate regular metrics of rental prices and deploy a proactive policy that contributes in a real way to solve the housing problem in Formentera,» said the PSOE.

]]>The Councilor for Economic Management, Salvador Losa, stressed that this growth is especially concentrated in investments, which increase by 115.05%, in the creation and arrangement of new services (+14.2%) and in grants and subsidies (+26.4%). According to Losa, «this budget is the most appropriate for 2026 and reflects the commitment and responsibility of a government team that will deliver».
In the investment section, Losa pointed out that the actions included in the budget have already begun or are about to begin. Among the main investments planned for 2026 are:
Cazadores’ traffic circle: 6.8 million euros
Center for Intangible Culture of ses Nou Rodades: 5.1 million
Multidisciplinary pavilion of sa Blancadona: 4.9 million
Parc Motor: 4.3 million
Official Language School: 4 million
Refurbishment of the EI-100 (Jesús-Santa Eulària): 2.8 million
Residence of the sea surveillance and protection service: 2.3 million
Also included are actions such as the improvement of safety on the Forada and Sant Francesc roads, the electrification of the Parc Insular de Serveis de sa Coma, the construction of a multi-family social housing building, the demolition of Cala d’en Serra or the restoration of the Molí Pep d’en Joan.
The budget expands the network of public services with the implementation of new social services, including the 24-hour Crisis Center for victims of sexual aggression, the arrangement of care for minors from 0 to 11 years of age and the creation of vertical units for minors. There is also an insularity bonus for workers of disability care and child protection entities.
As regards road infrastructures, a specific service for cleaning, clearing and beautification of the island’s roadsides will be promoted, in addition to the incorporation of a second mobile ITV, which is already in the bidding phase.
Aid and transfers increased by 10 million euros to 47.3 million euros, a figure that includes the entry into operation of the new bus contract and the maintenance of free public transport, endowed with 15.5 million euros.
Likewise, there is a record increase in aid to individuals, families and entities. It is worth mentioning an item of one million euros to support the island’s students and a forecast of 7 million euros in social aid for municipalities, entities and users.
One of the pillars of the 2026 budget is the contribution of the Balearic Government, which reaches a historical figure of more than 110 million euros, 25 million more than the previous year. To this must be added 1.4 million euros from the State, derived from the liquidation of previous years.
In addition, the Consell contemplates the possibility of resorting to a loan of up to 17.3 million euros, although Losa recalled that in 2025 it was not necessary to formalize a bank loan of 9.1 million initially planned, thanks to the incorporation of residual funds and other sources of financing.
