]]>The documentary, which has the backing of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), will examine how life in Ibiza is changing due to tourism, real estate speculation and the rising cost of living. According to its creators, the objective is to make visible the stories of those who struggle to stay on the island, especially the people who make its daily functioning possible.
«While many people continue to come to Ibiza attracted by its natural beauty and atmosphere of freedom, for many local and temporary residents it is becoming increasingly difficult to live here,» they point out in the call.
The project seeks testimonials from essential workers who are experiencing difficulties such as:
Problems finding or affording housing.
Decision to leave the island for economic reasons.
Choice of alternative forms of accommodation such as caravans, tents or shared rooms.
Participation is voluntary and open to anyone who wants to share their personal experience about the social reality of the island.
The production says the stories will help raise awareness of a growing problem that affects both year-round residents and seasonal workers in Ibiza.
«Your story can help create change and bring visibility to an issue that often gets left out of the spotlight,» says the documentary team.
