Investments in Ibiza

Within Limecu, there is the firm Rostower BuildingBuilding, a Publicly Traded Real Estate Investment Company (SOCIMI) which at the end of last year was listed on the European Portfolio Stock Exchange, reaching a valuation of 223.2 million euros.

Edificio Rostower, managed by the brother of the Argentine star, Rodrigo Martín Messi, controls a broad portfolio of luxury assets. These include six MiM hotels, including the emblematic MiM Ibiza in Figueretas, and properties in Barcelona, Castelldefels, Paris and London.

The MIM Ibiza boutique hotel, exclusively for adults, was acquired by the footballer in mid-2018. It has 52 rooms and is located a few meters from Figueretas beach, as well as being close to the most famous nightclubs on the island.

This portfolio has been key to the stock market take-off of the SOCIMI, designed to fiscally optimize Messi’s investments and attract new investors.

The garage was transformed into additional rooms that did not appear in the original plans, which prevented the issuance of the final building permit and the certificate of occupancy.

In addition, new works carried out by Messi, such as earthworks and the construction of terraces, were also done without the proper permit, which led to a decree of paralyzation issued by the City Council in May 2022.

Tax advantages

The move to Andorra has only one explanation: the tax advantages it offers. According to On Economia, this country keeps its direct taxes below 10 percent, compared to the 25 percent corporate tax rate in Spain and the 28 to 33 percent in France.

AX Partners, a private equity real estate investment manager based in Barcelona and Luxembourg, has announced that it is in the process of acquiring three new hotels in Sitges, Costa Brava and Ibiza.
