The Ibiza Convention Bureau shares space with the Department of Tourism Promotion of the Consell, which has scheduled 38 professional meetings with specialized operators, travel agencies and event organizing companies from the main European and American markets.
IBTM World is considered the world’s leading trade fair for business tourism, with 12,000 participants and more than 2,300 international exhibitors. In the 2024 edition, more than 73,000 business meetings were held, 23% more than the previous year, and forecasts for 2025 confirm the growth of the MICE segment.
The president of the Consell Insular d’Eivissa, Vicent Marí, stressed that this international presence is part of the strategy to deseasonalize the season and diversify the tourist offer.
«Ibiza is committed to a model of quality, sustainable and respectful of the environment,» said Marí, stressing the importance of strengthening the island’s position in the European network of destinations specializing in congresses and corporate events.
With its participation in IBTM World 2025, the Consell reaffirms its commitment to position Ibiza as a competitive and attractive destination all year round, capable of attracting meetings and events with high added value.

]]>According to the director of Tourism, Juan Miguel Costa, MICE tourism plays a key role in Ibiza’s new Marketing Plan, which seeks to promote activities away from the summer massification. «It is a type of tourism that values sustainability and the environment, in addition to attracting visitors with high purchasing power who discover the island on their business trips and return with their families to enjoy our diversity of offers,» Costa stressed. The island attends the fair with a large representation that includes 13 hotels, 2 congress venues and 3 companies specializing in events and incentives. During the event, which runs from November 19 to 21, some 40 business meetings are scheduled with tour operators, travel agencies and companies from the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, Italy and Spain, among other countries.
Expectations for congress tourism in Ibiza are optimistic, with forecasts that point to a «very positive» 2025 for the sector. One of the major advances will be the construction of the second phase of the Ibiza Conference Center, a key infrastructure to strengthen the island’s offer in this segment. Among those attending the fair, in addition to the island director of Tourism, are institutional representatives such as the councilman of Eivissa, Ruben Sousa, the director of Tourism of the City Council of Sant Josep, Eva Ruiz, and the manager of the Ibiza Convention Bureau, Ana Sanchezwho have highlighted the importance of this fair to capture new opportunities in the MICE sector.

]]>Despite progress, Ibiza faces specific challenges that could further maximize the impact of MICE tourism. Off-season air connectivity remains a constraint for the island, especially in months such as February or November. «Poor connectivity in the off-season is a significant hindrance,» says Sánchez. The manager explains that, unlike vacation tourists, MICE visitors have short stays, two to three days, and tend to rule out destinations that require stopovers. In this sense, improved air connectivity could open many doors to attract new events to the island. In addition, the expansion of the Santa Eulària Conference Center is a project that the Ibiza Convention Bureau considers a priority to meet the demand for large events. «In recent years, Ibiza has missed opportunities by not having an infrastructure of greater capacity. The second phase of the Convention Center will be crucial to continue growing in the sector and to consolidate the island as a leading MICE destination,» Sánchez points out.
Another attraction of this type of tourism is its direct economic impact on the island, which translates into spending that can double or triple that of a vacationer. «MICE visitors generate benefits that go beyond purely tourist services, as they require from catering and audiovisual services to translation or graphic design companies. This contributes to boosting the local economy on a much broader level,» Sánchez explains. In addition, many attendees at these events later return as vacation tourists, which adds long-term added value for Ibiza. Ibiza’s commitment to MICE tourism is also attracting increasing attention from event agencies that propose the island to their clients. «We would like to be able to disclose names of the brands that choose us, but the confidentiality of these events prevents it. However, we know that the diversity of sectors, from pharmaceuticals to automotive, reflects the attractiveness that Ibiza represents as a venue for top-level events,» comments the manager. Ultimately, MICE tourism not only diversifies Ibiza’s offer, but also contributes to enhancing the island’s reputation in the international market by presenting it as a quality destination that combines work and leisure in a privileged environment. This approach allows Ibiza to continue to transform itself, offering its visitors much more than sun and beach, and positioning itself as a benchmark in MICE tourism.
