]]>La entrada «There is no definitive report or sanction», says the Consell de Formentera on the inspection of the Residence for the Elderly. se publicó primero en La Voz De Ibiza.
]]>As explained by the institution, the document issued by the Labor Inspectorate on October 14 is a diligence and preventive requirement, an ordinary procedure that sets deadlines for reviewing technical aspects, without any infraction or administrative sanction having been issued.
The Consell assures that all the documentation requested within the inspection process is currently being provided, and that there is still no definitive report. Therefore, it considers that «any statement about results or deficiencies is premature and unfounded«.
In relation to the alleged safety deficiencies, the Consell emphasizes that the fire extinguishers in the residence were within the legal review period. The official documentation accredits that their maintenance was valid until November 1, 2025, and that before that date the new revision had already been completed. Therefore, there was no situation of risk or non-compliance.
From the insular institution they qualify as «flagrant manipulation» the fact that «a technical diligence and a request for documentation have been presented as a definitive report with accusations of serious deficiencies» by UGT. The Consell considers that these statements «generate unjustified alarm among citizens».
It also reiterates that it collaborates fully with the Labor Inspectorate, and that, if in the future aspects to be improved are identified, «they will be corrected immediately and with the utmost rigor«.

]]>La entrada The Consell de Formentera denies that socio-health care assistants make injections in the residence for the elderly se publicó primero en La Voz De Ibiza.
]]>The administration has stressed that the nursing home has 14 social-health care assistants to care for 18 users, a figure that far exceeds the minimum ratio of 6 assistants established by law and that, according to the internal regulations of the center, must be at least 9 workers. As for shifts, the Consell has defended the decision to propose a change in the current schedules, which until now have consisted of 12-hour continuous shifts, to avoid accumulated fatigue and better distribute the staff in the hours of greatest care load. However, the institution has clarified that these proposals have been raised in meetings with all the parties involved, in compliance with the legal deadlines, and that they will be taken up again soon to find a consensus.
The Consell has denied that there are «reprisals» against workers, as the union claims, and has assured that the model applied in the residence of Formentera is similar to that of other residences in the Balearic Islands. In this regard, he indicated that during the night shift, a social-health care assistant is in charge of the residence, supported by night and morning security rounds, as well as personnel who can be reached in case of need. In relation to complaints about working conditions, the Councilor for Social Welfare, Cristina Costa, pointed out that the workers’ proposal presented in November was discarded because «it did not guarantee the necessary personnel at times of greatest care pressure».
The consellera Costa has recognized that the moment is «challenging» and has shown her willingness to continue the meetings with the aim of reaching agreements that benefit both workers and users. «The care of our elders is a priority, and we will continue working to ensure the best service in the residence, always respecting the current regulations,» he stressed. Meanwhile, the Consell has called for the tranquility of the families and has assured that the services in the residence are fully guaranteed and that the current model allows us to offer adequate care to users, within a framework of professionalism and respect for the staff.

]]>La entrada Serious complaint of the UGT about the conditions in the residence for the elderly in Formentera. se publicó primero en La Voz De Ibiza.
]]>The union organization has denounced that, since the implementation of the changes, the management has taken measures that affect both staff and users. According to UGT, these decisions have included the reduction of support staff, the elimination of technical shifts on weekends, and the assignment of nursing tasks to social-health care assistants, such as performing cures and injections. The union has also warned that, during night shifts, on many occasions only one social-health care assistant is in charge of the 18 users of the center, a situation they consider unsustainable. These conditions have generated discomfort among families, some of whom have opted to withdraw their relatives from the residence.
In response to the complaints, the Consell de Formentera has defended the management of the center and assured that the services provided to users are «fully guaranteed» and comply with current regulations. According to the councilor of Social Welfare, Cristina Costa, the residence currently has 14 social-health care assistants to care for the 18 residents, a figure that far exceeds the minimum ratio of 6 established by law and the internal regulations of the center, which requires at least 9. Costa explained that the changes in schedules seek to avoid staff burnout due to the 12-hour workdays, distributing resources more efficiently at times of increased demand for care. In addition, he stressed that the social-health care assistants only perform the tasks inherent to their position and always under the supervision of a nurse.
The Regional Minister confirmed that since the beginning of the conflict, four meetings have been held with all the parties involved and that these will continue next week in order to seek consensus solutions. She also pointed out that the proposal presented by the workers in November was rejected because it did not guarantee adequate coverage at times of increased care pressure. Costa has shown empathy towards the concerns of families and workers, ensuring that the Consell remains committed to ensuring the quality of service and improve conditions in the residence. However, the conflict remains open and both families and professionals expect concrete progress in the upcoming meetings to resolve the situation.
