]]>The APB approved the concession at its last meeting, allowing the company IGY Gestora Marinas Spain S.L., owner of the pier, to cede berth number 3 to Melilla Terminal Europa S.L., a company managed by Adolfo Utor, president of Baleària. The agreement guarantees the berthing of the Foners for a period of five years, from June 1, 2026 to May 31, 2031.
The Fortuna was a gift from Balearic businessmen to the monarch, with the aim of promoting the islands as a tourist destination, and passed to the National Heritage in 2013. After its decommissioning, Baleària acquired the vessel for 2.2 million euros, and incorporated it into its fleet for commercial use in the luxury yacht charter market, with rates ranging from 15,900 euros per day to 115,000 euros per week, according to portals specializing in nautical charters.
Built entirely in aluminum by the IZAR shipyard in San Fernando (Cadiz) and designed by Donald L. Blount and Tommaso Spadolini, the Foners is 43 meters long, 9 meters wide and has five cabins for ten people. Its three Rolls-Royce engines allow it to reach high speeds, although its maintenance is costly due to its high fuel consumption.
For the past few seasons, the boat has been available for charter in Ibiza, and has even been the backdrop for international productions. An American production company recently used it as a set for a reality show filmed in Ibiza, destined for the Disney+ platform, which will show the life of millionaire families in luxury surroundings.
With this new base in the Ibizan port, the Foners consolidates its link with Ibiza, an island where it has gained notoriety both for its royal past and its current role in the luxury and entertainment industry.

]]>The project includes the dismantling of the existing pontoons and all associated elements, such as supply towers, water and electricity networks, bollards and stairs.
Subsequently, new floating modules equipped with modern technology will be manufactured and installed, from renewed supply systems to elements that will improve the operability and safety of the infrastructure. According to the plan, the execution period is six months, which means that the new pontoons will be operational in the summer of 2025, a crucial time for the island’s nautical and tourism sector.
The renovation of the pontoons is part of a broader plan to improve the infrastructure of the port of Sant Antoni and its surroundings. Among the initiatives also highlights the repair project of the Passeig de la Mar, with an investment of over one million euros, which aims to modernize the pavements and harmonize them with the design of the coastline. The port of Sant Antoni is one of the strategic points for recreational and commercial boating in Ibiza, being key in the tourist development of the island. This investment not only seeks to guarantee safety, but also to reinforce the attractiveness of the area as a quality destination for visitors and residents.

]]>With years of intensive use, the current pontoons are in an advanced state of deterioration. According to PortsIB, the main objective of this work is to replace the floating and associated infrastructures that no longer meet safety and functionality standards. The work includes the complete removal of the existing modules and their elements, such as supply turrets, water and electricity networks, as well as access stairs.
In their place, new pontoons will be installed, equipped with advanced technology, such as modern turrets for the supply of basic services and renovated networks, ensuring an efficient and sustainable use of resources. These upgrades will not only improve operability, but also provide a safer and more accessible environment for users.
The investment in the port of Sant Antoni is part of a broader strategic plan to revitalize the entire port area and its surroundings. In addition to the work on the pontoons, the Govern already has other initiatives underway, such as the renovation of Passeig de la Mar, a project valued at more than one million euros that seeks to update the paving and harmonize the coastal aesthetics. According to PortsIB, these actions are essential to ensure that Sant Antoni continues to be a benchmark in the nautical and tourism sector of the Balearic Islands, especially on an island like Ibiza, where the connection between sea and land is vital to its economy and culture.
The port of Sant Antoni not only adapts to current needs, but also aims for a more sustainable future. The modernization of port infrastructure is aligned with the environmental priorities of the Government, which seeks to promote efficient and responsible management of resources in all ports of the community. The Department of the Sea and Water Cycle emphasizes that this intervention will not only improve the user experience, but will also strengthen the role of the port as an essential pillar for the island’ s economic and social activity. The works are expected to be completed by mid-2024, at which time the port of Sant Antoni will have completely renovated infrastructures, capable of responding to the demands of the present and the future.

The breakdown of the port of Ibiza’s port of Ibiza reflects that fees for special use of the public domain have generated a significant portion of revenue in Ibiza.
In 2023, the port recorded €16,500,000 in this section alone, compared to €14,000,000 the previous year, representing a growth of almost 18%.
This increase is largely due to the growing demand for moorings and commercial space, driven by the continued increase in tourism and the arrival of large vessels, both recreational and commercial.
Activity fees, which cover concessions and authorizations to businesses to operate premises and services within the port, have also been a key driver of economic growth in Ibiza.
In 2023, income from these activities reached 19 million euros, showing an increase over the previous year’s 16 million euros.

The port of La Savina, in Formentera, although more modest in terms of total revenues, has shown stable growth.
In 2023, revenues at La Savina reached €4,672,808.25, compared to €3,738,699.74 in 2022, equivalent to an increase of 25%.
Although the figures are lower compared to Ibiza, this port plays a crucial role in inter-island connectivity and tourist flow to Formentera, which continues to be a popular destination among visitors seeking a more exclusive and quiet environment.
In La Savina, occupancy rates for the use of port spaces and concessions related to commercial activities have also contributed significantly to this growth.
The income generated by these concepts in 2023 was approximately 2,200,000 euros, a considerable figure for the port’s infrastructure, which is smaller compared to that of Ibiza.
In global terms, APB’s total revenue in 2023 reached 105,180,097.71 euros, an increase of 21% compared to the 86,801,418.42 euros obtained in 2022.
Port fees continue to be the main source of income, representing more than 60% of the total generated in the ports managed by APB, while concessions and commercial activities within the ports have continued to increase their relevance within the economic balance of the entity.
Despite the growth in port revenues, the Balearic Islands Port Authority has recorded a decrease in its cash flow, which at the end of 2023 stood at 139 million euros, compared to 163 million euros at the end of the previous year. This adjustment in the cash balance responds to the investments made by the APB in the improvement of infrastructures and modernization of port services, with the aim of increasing the competitiveness and capacity of the ports to manage the growing flow of passengers and goods.
