The General Industrial Production Index (IPI) increased by 6.3% year-on-year in September in the Balearic Islands, exceeding the national average by 1.8 points, which stood at 4.5%, according to data published Thursday by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
With this result, the Islands’ industrial production maintains its positive trend and adds ten consecutive months of growth.
The index was positive in all the autonomous communities, with Castilla y León (+17%), Andalusia (+11.2%) and the Canary Islands (+8.7%) leading the way. Only Valencia (-3.3%) and the Basque Country (-2.8%) recorded declines.
So far this year, industrial production in the Balearic Islands has accumulated an increase of 5.2%, compared to the 1.1% growth of the national average.
By economic destination, consumer goods as a whole rose by 9.1%, with a strong rebound in durable goods (+20.7%), while non-durable goods grew by 6.1%. On the other hand, capital goods fell by 1.7%, while intermediate goods soared by 25.1% and energy-related goods increased by 3.5%.
