Industrial production falls by 2.5% in the Balearic Islands in October despite the accumulated increase for the year

Balearic industry fell again in October, with a year-on-year decline of 2.5%, in contrast to the national growth of 1.6%. Even so, the sector adds an increase of 4.3% so far in 2025, driven by consumer goods, compared to the slowdown in capital goods and intermediate goods.

The General Index of Industrial Production (IPI) fell by 2.5% year-on-year last October in the Balearic Islands, 4.1 points less than the national average, which increased by 1.6%, according to data published by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

The annual rate of industrial production increased in nine autonomous communities and decreased in another 8. Andalusia (+16.6%), Castilla y León (+7.2%) and Extremadura (+6.1%) experienced the greatest increases, while on the other hand, Galicia, La Rioja and Asturias experienced decreases of 6.4%, 4.8% and 3.8%, respectively.

So far this year, industrial production in the Balearic Islands has grown by 4.3%, compared to an increase of 1.1% for the national average.

By economic destination, consumer goods as a whole rose by 3.3% in the region, with an increase of 11.6% in the case of durable goods and 0.6% more for non-durable goods.

As for the rest, capital goods decreased by 14.7%, intermediate goods were down 1.3% and energy goods were up 0.7%.
