Cayetano Rivera ‘s name is back in the headlines after suffering a serious traffic accident in Seville. The bullfighter lost control of his van at the exit of the Real Club Sevilla Golf, in Alcalá de Guadaíra, and ended up crashing into a landscaped traffic circle full of palm trees, as reported by ABC Sevilla.
The violent impact left the van completely destroyed and caused the fall of several trees, as well as glass and remains of the vehicle scattered on the asphalt. Despite the spectacular nature of the accident, the bullfighter was not seriously injured and is in a stable condition, although he tested positive for alcohol, according to sources quoted by the same media.
An accident that could have had more serious consequences
The accident occurred around 21:00 hours on Sunday, when Cayetano Rivera was driving his van along the road that connects the golf club with his urbanization. Apparently, the bullfighter lost control of the vehicle when he reached a traffic circle, invading the landscaped space and knocking down several palm trees due to the force of the impact.
The images released by Europa Press show the magnitude of the crash: the front of the vehicle was reduced to a heap of iron, with one of the front wheels completely lifted off the ground. On the ground can be seen the remains of the windshield and the trail left by the van after the collision.
“The vehicle has been declared a total loss,” reports ABC, which also states that the authorities carried out a breathalyzer test on the bullfighter, whose result the bullfighter, the result of which would have been positive.
Cayetano, unharmed but at the center of controversy
Despite the violence of the accident, Cayetano Rivera got out of the vehicle on his own feet. According to witnesses, he did not require immediate medical assistance and walked away to his home, located just 25 meters from the scene of the accident.
Minutes later, several neighbors alerted the Guardia Civil, who went to the area and later went to the bullfighter’s home to check his condition and clarify what had happened. Sources close to the bullfighter said that Cayetano collaborated with the agents and explained that the accident was the result of a mistake at the wheel. “After getting out of the car, he stayed for a while next to his vehicle, with a jacket hanging from his arm, until the neighbors came to help him”, eyewitnesses said.

Photographs of the scene give a good account of the force of the impact. They show how the van was left on the traffic circle, with several palm trees knocked down and the ground covered with fragments of the vehicle.
The images also show the trace of the car’s trajectory before the collision, evidencing the loss of control suffered by the driver. The landscaped area was visibly damaged, with the remains of the vehicle scattered over several meters.
The front of the car is the most affected part: the hood bent, the engine displaced and the windshield blown out. Despite this, the driver’s compartment barely shows any deformation, something that would have been key for the bullfighter to escape unharmed.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
The accident, which did not cause any injuries or personal damages to third parties, has been placed under investigation. The Guardia Civil de Tráfico has opened an investigation report to clarify the exact circumstances of the incident and to confirm whether, as initial reports indicate, the bullfighter had consumed alcohol before driving.
If the positive alcohol test is confirmed, Cayetano Rivera could face a financial penalty and the temporary withdrawal of his driver’s license, in addition to the possible impact on his public image.
For the moment, he has not made any public pronouncement about what happened. According to close sources, the bullfighter spent Monday afternoon at home, recovering from the scare and avoiding media appearances.
