New clues point to Cuba: Martiño Ramos’ whereabouts and police alert on one of Spain’s most dangerous fugitives

The latest information about Martiño Ramos Soto, sentenced to 13 years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor student for two years, has reactivated the police alert on both sides of the Atlantic. Just 12 days before the Supreme Court sentence became final, an Instagram profile opened in Cuba under the name Martín Soto began to emit signals. The photograph shows the recognizable face of the fugitive professor, and the account has remained active during these months, while the Spanish police search for him without success.

According to the publications of this account, Ramos Soto would have been working as a photographer on the Caribbean island, moving around art galleries, cultural events and modeling shows, always under his Spanish name and his second surname. The clues that point to Havana, according to sources from the Government Delegation in Galicia, are already being investigated.

The first information about his presence in Cuba was reported by El Español, and it fully coincides with what the social network shows. In the profile, where he uses his photo, there is even a text in Galician. Last November 14, he was seen at an exhibition at the Habana Espacios Creativos cultural center, where another attendee posted photos in which he was tagged.

Ramos Soto has been wanted since July, when the Supreme Court confirmed his thirteen-year prison sentence. For years he was the victim’s music teacher, whom he had known since she was a three-year-old girl. He captured her when she was in sixth grade, posing as a minor on Instagram and then physically and sexually assaulting her.

The fact that has generated the most indignation is that, despite the seriousness of the facts and the previous convictions of the Provincial Court of Ourense and the Superior Court of Justice of Galicia, no precautionary measures were imposed. Ramos enjoyed probation and the Prosecutor’s Office did not request provisional imprisonment in the four years that the process lasted, since the complaint of the minor in 2021. When the police tried to arrest him to execute the sentence, the teacher had already disappeared.

The fugitive’s life in networks

The first of the 51 publications of the profile linked to the pedophile is dated July 13, twelve days before the final judgment. The last one, only five days earlier. In that period, the profile shows images related to contemporary art, models and photo shoots carried out in Cuba.

In the last few hours, several users have begun to leave comments warning of the serious judicial sentence hanging over the man who appears in these images.

Police place Martiño Ramos among top ten most wanted fugitives

In parallel, the National Police has included Ramos Soto in its list of the ten most wanted fugitives in Spain, a document that was made public on Monday. The agency describes him as a highly dangerous individual, a qualification linked to his conviction for sexual abuse of a minor with sadistic practices when the victim was between 12 and 16 years old.

The mugshot defines him as a man of:

• slim build,

• gray-haired,

• dark complexion,

• dark eyes.

But Ramos is not the only Galician on the list. Also on the list are Daniel Vázquez Patiño, wanted for the abuse and sexual assault of a ten-year-old girl, and Juan Miguel García Santos, the alleged leader of a drug ring linked to the shipment of cocaine from Ecuador hidden in banana shipments. All of them are also considered highly dangerous.

Police have released updated images in which, using artificial intelligence, they recreate possible changes in the appearance of the fugitives to make it more difficult for them to go unnoticed.
