The Local Police of Sant Antoni de Portmany has arrested three men allegedly responsible for several robberies committed in establishments in the municipality in recent weeks, a series of events that occurred in the early hours of the morning that had generated concern among traders.
The investigation was initiated following complaints filed by the owners of the affected premises to the Guardia Civil. From that moment on, both bodies coordinated a joint device to clarify the events. The images captured by video surveillance cameras were key: they were able to identify the alleged perpetrators, who acted alone, gaining access to the stores by force.
Two of those involved were arrested on Monday 24, while the third was arrested on Thursday 27. All three are of legal age and, according to police sources, at least two of them have previous convictions for similar acts. Following their arrest, they have been brought before the courts.
The City Council of Sant Antoni and the Local Police Headquarters have highlighted the speed of police action, as well as citizen collaboration and coordination with the Civil Guard, factors that have allowed to clarify this wave of robberies and arrest those responsible.
The Consistory recalls the importance of maintaining active security measures in the establishments and stresses that they will continue to reinforce night surveillance to prevent new crimes.
