Residents of Ibiza and Formentera leave between 200 and 250 euros on average during Black Friday, according to José Javier Marí, president of the Merchants Association. This day of discounts, which initially generated doubts among some local businesses, has established itself as a key incentive to bring forward Christmas shopping, in many cases doubling the volume of sales compared to the conventional sales period.

Speaking to Radio Ibiza, Marí pointed out that, although a few years ago some establishments were reluctant to this campaign imported from abroad, now almost all stores in the Pitiusas actively participate in the event. “Now it has become a fundamental boost for small local commerce, because many customers expect this day to make their most important purchases of the winter,” he stressed.
Discounts up to 50% off
The most common discounts are between 15 % and 20 %, although in some cases they reach 50 %, according to Marí. This aggressive sales policy has been key to boost sales, especially in sectors such as fashion, technology and home accessories.
“Spending on Black Friday is usually double that of a normal sales day,” said the president of the Merchants Association.
Impact on weekly consumption
Retailers detect a repeated pattern: the week before, activity drops significantly, as many consumers wait until Black Friday to take advantage of the offers. At the same time, the week after also suffers, as the shopping budget has already been spent.
