The Civil Guard of Santa Eulària des Riu investigates two people as alleged perpetrators of a crime of fraud for the alleged manipulation of the appointment system of the Technical Inspection of Vehicles (ITV) of Santa Gertrudis. The agents are analyzing a possible scheme through which an individual acted as an intermediary to obtain irregular bookings and advance appointments in exchange for economic benefits.
The investigation was initiated following a complaint from the head of one of the ITV stations, who warned about anomalous behavior in the allocation of appointments and the regular presence of a man who, without belonging to the staff, behaved as if he were part of it. According to the complaint, fictitious license plates were also detected in the system, allegedly used to generate “quick” appointments outside the official procedure.
In addition, several users stated that they had obtained access to the inspection through this alleged “procurer” and some even pointed to the existence of clandestine workshops that collected vehicles to submit them to the inspection without complying with the established requirements.
During the inquiries, the Santa Gertrudis station provided the investigators with a report containing 665 quotes recorded in 2024 and 767 in 2025 linked to the same phone number and email address. This volume of bookings in the name of a single contact reinforced the suspicion of organized irregular activity.
In addition, authorizations were found that allowed the suspect to book appointments on behalf of third parties, along with a second telephone number that is also under analysis.
After consulting official databases, the agents were able to identify the owner of the telephone line used, who is listed as a user on numerous reservations and is said to have acted as a collaborator of the main suspect.
The Civil Guard continues with the proceedings to determine whether the facts could also constitute a crime of computer damage, in addition to other criminal responsibilities linked to the alleged alteration of the public inspection system.
