Although the opening date remains under seven keys, Paradores de Turismo is dressing with art its future establishment in Dalt Vila. The public company has awarded eight contracts for works and artistic collections destined to be displayed in the future Ibizan Parador, for a total amount of 133,907.48 euros, according to different tenders published in the Public Sector Procurement Platform.
According to the award announcements, they are a mix of established and contemporary artists, with formats ranging from sculpture to engraving. The contracts specify that all the pieces are to be exhibited in the future Parador, which will be the chain’s first establishment in the Balearic Islands and the 99th in the network.
An artistic project with its own stamp
The aesthetic commitment of the new Parador is not new. Back in October, Paradores presented at the contemporary art fair

- “Sea in texture”, by the artist Manu Iranzo, for 900 euros.
- Collection of eight “ice cream” sculptures, by Juan Miguel Quiñones, for 926.08 euros.
- Two engravings by Joan Miró, incorporated for 057.86 euros.

- “The Swimmer I” and “The Swimmer II”, by Rodrigo Romero, for 000 euros.
- “Tierra incógnita”, by Nuria Mora, for 350 euros.
All of these purchases are listed as supply contracts that have already been resolved and formalized, with award dates concentrated in November and, above all, on December 1.
A public art gallery in the heart of Dalt Vila
Beyond the economic data, the acquisition sheet fits with the identity that Paradores seeks for its landing on the island: contemporary, colorful and playful works, combined with important names in Spanish art, such as Joan Miró, Josep Guinovart or Pablo Genovés, whose works will also integrate the collection of the future hotel as announced by the chain in Estampa.
The artistic proposal -which will include painting, sculpture, photography, installation and ceramics- aims to turn the historic building into a sort of living gallery, in dialogue with the light, the sea and Ibiza’s heritage. When it opens its doors, the new Parador will not only expand the island’s hotel offerings: it will be a public cultural space in the heart of Dalt Vila.
The opening, an unknown
Tenders to refurbish the Parador de Ibiza have been piling up in recent months, although Paradores de España remains tight-lipped about the opening date. La Voz de Ibiza has made numerous inquiries, which the state-owned company has not answered.
The unknown drags a long history of delays: although the idea of the Parador de Ibiza was born in 2004 and the works began in 2008, the works were paralyzed in 2012 after the discovery of archaeological remains, which forced to rethink much of the project. After a resumption in 2019, setbacks have followed: chained tenders, new complementary works in 2025, and in the last stretch an unexpected problem: municipal works on the access (the Camí del Calvari) that forced to postpone once again the opening. Although on several occasions it was announced that the opening would be in 2024 or early 2025, the exact date has not yet been set.
A month ago, at the World Travel Market in London, the mayor of Ibiza, Rafael Triguero, reported that a “road map” had been agreed to open as soon as possible, although without giving details.
