The Can Misses Hospital Hospital Can Misses has registered in December a decrease of 31.28 percent in the total number of patients on the waiting list for outpatient consultations.
As reported by the Pitiusa Health Area on Monday, the number of people waiting more than 60 days has decreased by 46 percent, from 10,440 people at the beginning of December last year to 5,636 at the beginning of December this year, i.e. almost 5,000 fewer people.
The average delay has also improved, with a 45 percent decrease from 168 days to 92 days.
Among the main reasons is the completion of many services that have been understaffed for years.
Of note in this drop is the data recorded by nine medical services, six of which confirm reductions of close to 90 percent in both the reduction in the number of patients and in the average delay.
The nine services in which the reduction has been most pronounced are Digestive, Maxillofacial Surgery, Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Pneumology, Otorhinolaryngology, Rheumatology, Traumatology and Vascular Surgery.
In the case of the Digestive Service, the number of patients has dropped by 89.3 percent and from 1,737 people on the waiting list, it has fallen to 186. In the more than 60-day waiting list, it has dropped by 98.7 percent and from 1,523 people in December 2024, it has gone down to 20 this December.
The average delay has also been reduced by around 90 percent, exactly 92.7 percent, and from 264 days it has gone down to 19. In terms of the number of patients, the waiting list has fallen by 89 percent, and from 487 to 52.
In the more than 60-day period, the number of patients has gone from 383 to none at all. And the average delay has been reduced by 87 percent, since a year ago patients waited 139 days on average and today the average delay is 18 days.
Internal Medicine is another of the services whose decreases are around 90 percent. In the number of patients the decrease is 94.17 percent and in one year has gone from 103 people on the waiting list to six; in the section of more than 60 days, the reduction is 90.6 percent and from 32 people a year ago there are currently three registered; the average delay has gone from 72 days to 55, which has meant a decrease of 23.7 percent.
Dermatology, with the telemedicine program with Primary Care and the incorporation of professionals, has experienced a reduction in the total number of patients of 87 percent and has gone from 2,064 people, twelve months ago, to currently have 271 people on the waiting list. The average delay has fallen by 85.85 percent and from 175 days to 24.7 days.
Maxillofacial Surgery recorded a 94.4 percent decrease in the number of patients, since a year ago there were 232 people and today there are 13. In the over 60 days section, from 54 to one, and the average delay has been reduced by 46 percent, from 38.5 days to 20.8.
Vascular surgery completes the group of six departments with the largest decreases. In its case the decrease in the number of patients is 86 percent and has evolved from 137 patients to 19 in one year. In the more than 60 days section there is no one at the moment and there were 61 people in December 2024.
On the other hand, at the December 2025 cut-off, eight services are currently under 20 days late.
