Three people were injured in a traffic accident that occurred this Thursday at 19:45 hours on the EI-700 road, at the height of the detour to Porroig, in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia.
The incident occurred after a collision between a car and a van, as reported by the Local Police of Sant Josep on its official Instagram profile.
The first inquiries suggest that one of the vehicles involved had invaded the oncoming lane of traffic, presumably under the influence of alcohol. The investigation is being carried out by the Guardia Civil, given that this is a stretch of interurban road.
In the operation of attention to the accident involved units of IBSALUT 061, Firefighters of Eivissa, Xarxa Viària, Grúas Ibiza, the Guardia Civil and agents of the Local Police of Sant Josep.
Drinking and driving alert
In its statement, the Local Police recalls that, according to data from the National Institute of Toxicology and Forensic Sciences, 48.2% of drivers killed in traffic accidents so far in 2024 tested positive for alcohol, drugs or psychotropic drugs.
Driving under the influence of these substances multiplies the risk of causing an accident.
The police force insists on the importance of prevention and responsibility at the wheel, stressing that this type of behavior can have tragic consequences not only for the driver, but also for third parties.
