The anti-drug macro operation deployed since Tuesday in different parts of Ibiza has resulted, for the moment, with at least eight people arrested, as reported by the National Police. The operation, which remains open and under secret of summary, is developed simultaneously in the municipalities of Ibiza, Santa Eulària, Sant Antoni and Sant Josep.
More than a hundred agents of the National Police, the Civil Guard and the Customs Surveillance of the Tax Agency are taking part in the operation. The actions, authorized by the Court of Instruction number 3 of Ibiza, are part of an investigation for crimes of drug trafficking and money laundering.
Although at first it was confirmed that five people had been arrested, the progress of the searches and the new procedures carried out have raised the number of people arrested to at least eight. The authorities do not rule out further arrests in the coming days, in view of the evidence gathered.

During the house searches, which lasted from early in the morning until late in the day, the agents seized narcotic substances, cash, various documents and a weapon. Dogs specialized in the detection of drugs and foreign currency were also involved in the searches.
One of the most relevant searches took place in Sant Rafel, where the agents inspected a house and its garden. Numerous drums, suspicious waste and material presumably related to drug trafficking were found there. One of the persons arrested in the operation was arrested at that point.
Investigators believe that this is a structured criminal network, with the capacity to distribute drugs on a large scale and to set up economic operations aimed at laundering the illicitly obtained money. However, both the National Police and the Civil Guard have avoided providing further details, appealing to the confidentiality of the proceedings.
The security forces have confirmed that the operation is still open and that the actions could be extended in the coming days, both with new searches and more arrests, depending on the development of the investigation.
