The Consell de Ibiza has granted a total of 106 aids for the purchase and electrification of bicycles and electric vehicles for personal mobility for the year 2025, with a total amount of 33,066.91 euros, according to the final resolution approved this December. The measure seeks to promote more sustainable transport alternatives in Ibiza, reduce the use of private vehicles and encourage healthier mobility habits, in line with the policies being developed by the island institution.
Of the total number of grants awarded, 78 correspond to modality A, aimed at people who purchased bicycles or personal mobility vehicles within the deadlines established in this year’s call, while 28 grants have been awarded through modality B, aimed at applicants of the 2024 call who, despite meeting the requirements, were excluded then due to exhaustion of the available credit. With this second modality, the Consell de Ibiza has wanted to guarantee access to the aid to those who could not benefit from the previous call, offering a new opportunity to those applicants.
The grants are part of Ibiza’s sustainable mobility plan.
The call, initially endowed with a maximum budget of 50,000 euros, is part of the Plan to promote the use of bicycles promoted by the Consell de Ibiza, a strategy aimed at promoting a more sustainable mobility, reducing dependence on the private car and promoting more environmentally friendly means of transport.
The subsidies have made it possible to finance the purchase of electric bicycles, conventional bicycles, electrification equipment and electric vehicles for personal mobility, thus facilitating the change of travel habits among citizens. Between 2024 and 2025, the Consell de Ibiza has distributed more than 83,000 euros in aid linked to this type of sustainable mobility, reinforcing its commitment to an alternative transport model to the private vehicle.
Island councilor Mariano Juan explained that these aids “are part of a global mobility plan for the island”, which includes measures such as the construction and projection of new bike lanes, as well as improvements in the bus service, which this year has reached a record of more than seven million trips. To this is added the law regulating the entry of vehicles, which this summer reduced by 32,000 the number of cars in circulation in Ibiza, with the aim of moving towards a more sustainable mobility and provide real alternatives to the use of private cars.
