The Consell de Ibiza and the Ibiza Town Hall have formalized this morning the agreement that guarantees the construction of the Low Exigence Center des Gorg, a project designed to serve people in situations of social exclusion on the island. The agreement includes a maximum contribution of 7,572,337.33 euros, financed entirely by the Consell, and provides for work to begin in the first quarter of 2025 with a completion date of November 2026.
A project to respond to a social need
The president of the Consell, Vicent Marí, stressed that this agreement is a decisive step in a social demand that had been raised for years. According to Marí, the center of des Gorg arises from the Table against social exclusion and had already been partially addressed since 2021 with the opening of the provisional center of sa Joveria. The president also stressed the joint effort of the Consell and the city councils, especially that of Ibiza, to define a project that not only covers residential needs, but also offers comprehensive support to the most vulnerable people on the island.
A priority for the city of Ibiza
The mayor of Ibiza, Rafel Triguero, has pointed out that this center represents a priority for his government team. “After many years of work, we have managed to unblock the project and sign this agreement. The des Gorg center will be a reality and will offer a second chance to groups in social exclusion,” said Triguero, stressing the city’s commitment to the neediest people. This agreement will allow the immediate start of the tender for the works, marking a milestone in the social care of the island and reaffirming the institutional commitment to the most vulnerable sectors.
