The Consell de Ibiza and the Conselleria de Educación y Universidades have signed an agreement that reinforces the support to Ibizan students studying at university in the European Union. With an investment of 237,380 euros, this measure seeks to offset the cost of travel for students who cannot access university education on the island.

The agreement, signed by the councilor Antoni Vera and the president of the Consell, Vicent Marí, is aimed at students registered in Ibiza who meet certain academic requirements. Among them, they must be enrolled in official studies that are not taught on the island or in those where they have not been able to obtain a place at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) or its affiliated centers. This initiative is part of a broader policy that seeks to reduce inequalities arising from insularity and promote academic excellence in the Balearic Islands.
The agreement aims to ensure equitable access to higher education for young people in Ibiza. In addition, it promotes educational quality and supports students who must move off the island to advance their academic training.
Impact on students
Beneficiaries will be able to receive this financial aid for the 2024-2025 academic year, as long as they meet the established criteria, such as having reached a minimum number of credits enrolled. This agreement complements other similar initiatives in the Balearic Islands, such as the agreement signed with the Consell Insular de Menorca, which also supports its students in comparable situations. In total, the Consell de Ibiza will allocate 56 million euros this year to different educational aids, consolidating its commitment to the training and development of the island’s young people.
